Have you ever thought that vanilla engines are a little too simple? Have you ever wanted to know whether a forged steel crankshaft is superior than a billet aluminum crankshaft? So this is the mod for you!
Built from the ground up, using significant study on automobile maintenance, tuning, and combustion engines. This mod offers a simulation engine construction experience that depicts the balancing act of power, reaction, pricing, and dependability.
Features
- Modular Engine Building: Create your own engine configuration using actual component tradeoffs and career price.
- Four distinct engine families (I3, I4, I5, and I6), each having its own torque curve, redline, inertia, and thermal models.
- Extensive customization: 53 displacement options per family, ranging from 0.6L to 18.0L.
Detailed Valvetrain & Heads include nine different kinds, six camshafts, seven compression ratios, seven valve diameters, and nine valve spring levels.
- Complete Bottom End: Rod types, pistons, crankshafts, bearing tiers, block materials, flywheels, and oil pans, including a dry sump.
- Advanced Forced Induction: 5 turbo designs with detailed sub-slots (bearings, compressor/turbine wheels, housings, oil lines) and three kinds of superchargers.
- Complex Electronics: 7 ECUs with features such as overheat prevention, oil pressure protection, over-torque protection, and many rev limiter types.
- Launch Control: 7 different options, including static, rolling, and adaptive rolling launch control.
- Deep Breathing and Fuel Systems: five fuel types, ten delivery systems, eight intake manifolds, fourteen throttle bodies, and a variety of air filters and headers.
- Career Ready: Each item is reasonably priced for usage in BeamNG career mode.
- Lightweight Design: Uses native game sound banks to reduce file size to a minimum.
Detailed Component Overview
- Air Filter: Affects airflow curves and intake noise reduction.
- Block Material: Specifies structural housing, melting point, and torque abuse tolerance.
- Camshaft: Changes the power band using RPM-indexed multiplier curves.
- Compression Ratio: Balancing NA power and efficiency with boost tolerance.
- Connecting Rods: Impacts torque rating, damage thresholds, and inertia.
- Cooling System: Increases heat rejection speed.
- Crankshaft and bearings affect torque rating, friction, and parasitic loss.
- ECU: Serves as the gatekeeper for safety features (oil/coolant/torque) and tuning sliders.
- Turbochargers: Detailed tuning based on turbine wheel size (26mm to 115mm) and wastegate settings, including boost-by-gear.
- Superchargers: Calculates pulley ratios, rotor profiles, and parasitic crank loss.
- Fuel System: Options range from single barrel carburetors to direct injection, which affects burn efficiency and airflow.
- Head types include OHV for low-end torque, SOHC for balance, and DOHC for top-end breathing.
- Oil Pan: Affects capacity and pressure; a dry sump prevents oil shortage.
- Valve Springs: Sets the absolute valvetrain RPM ceiling.
Technical Systems
- Torque Shaping: Custom Lua combines multiplicative and additive curves from all components to provide a distinct engine behavior.
- Mechanical Stress: The weakest link in the rotating assembly determines structural limitations, and surpassing them results in engine failure.- Thermal Simulation: A proprietary framework in which block capacity, radiator volume, and reservoirs are all distinct entities.
- Launch Control Modes: Static (hold brake, floor throttle), Rolling (target speed with brake priority), and Adaptive Rolling (target adjusts to current road speed).
Known Issues
- Manual transmissions already have a flywheel, therefore two flywheels are present.
- The vanilla boost gage rounds its scale, which might result in a visual mismatch with adjustable wastegates.- Some dropdown menus are sorted alphabetically rather than numerically (for example, turbine wheels).
