The Pembroke
18th-Century Sailing Ship
The Pembroke is a fully-rigged 18th century frigate. Designed for agility and speed in battle, and with long-range potential, these were the backbone of the Age of Sail.
I've now given my first complete jbeam project, and BeamNG's first ship, a proper spit-shine. New features include:
Directions:
Place the .zip file under AppData>Local>BeamNG.Drive>mods. Do not extract. The primary means of moving the ship is via the wind app, as the sails do function more or less like real sails. Likewise, they break like real sails, so don't make the wind go faster than ~50 MPH. Otherwise, a low-power thruster is available via the Y key. Rudder is powered with the normal steering keys, while cannons are pivoted with T for up and G being down, and fired sequentially with F for port and H for starboard.
*I'm not actually sure that the Burgundy Cross was ever used on any Spanish Naval Vessels, but it looked cool enough and easy to illustrate.

Oh, and special thanks to Nadeox1 and SergentFido for helping me to get the skins working.

I've now given my first complete jbeam project, and BeamNG's first ship, a proper spit-shine. New features include:
- Selectable and skinnable mainmast flag, with the options of the White Ensign of the early 18th century Royal Navy, the Spanish Burgundy Cross*, and the once obscure and potentially inaccurate but iconic Skull-and-Crossbones of pirate fame.
- Sinking, via detachable and damageable buoyancy pods.
- Three rows of functioning broadside cannons
- Slight extra pass of detail. It still ain't pretty, but it's a bit easier on the eyes than it once was.
