The Dacia 1310, produced between 1984 and 1991, is a modernized version of the original Dacia 1300, which in turn was based on the Renault 12. This model was a cornerstone of the Romanian automotive industry during that period and is well-known in Eastern Europe.

General Characteristics:

• Exterior Design: The Dacia 1310 had a classic design for that era, with simple lines and a robust appearance. In the '80s, the model received some aesthetic updates, such as rectangular headlights (replacing the round ones), a modernized front grille, and redesigned rear lights.

• Engine: Most Dacia 1310 models were equipped with a 1.3-liter gasoline engine, with four inline cylinders, producing approximately 54-56 HP. Over time, other engine options were introduced, but the base engine remained the 1.3-liter one.

• Transmission: The standard transmission was a four-speed manual, but in the later years of production, a five-speed version became available.

• Performance: The top speed was around 140 km/h, and the average fuel consumption was approximately 10 liters per 100 km, which was quite standard for cars of that era.

• Interior: The interior was simple and functional, with a rather spartan dashboard. Depending on the year and equipment variant, features could include seats made of imitation leather or fabric, manual windows, and a heating system.

• Versions and Body Styles: The Dacia 1310 was available in several body styles, including a four-door sedan, a station wagon (familial), and a utility version (van). There were also special versions, such as the Dacia 1310 TLX, which came with some aesthetic and comfort improvements.

The Dacia 1310 was very popular in Romania and other Eastern Bloc countries due to its affordable price and relatively low maintenance costs. Additionally, due to its robustness and simplicity, the car was easy to repair, an important feature in an era when spare parts and auto repair services were limited.

Later Developments:

Starting in 1989, with the fall of the communist regime in Romania, the automotive market began to open up, and the Dacia 1310 continued to be produced with various minor updates until the late '90s and early 2000s. In 1999, Renault took over Dacia, which led to a major transformation of the company and the introduction of new, modern models.
