Why does a front engine car have rear mounted turbos?
@Ummm..... Just for aesthetics, the efficiency of placing it on the exhaust is so low that it is better to build it directly into the engine
@Ummm..... it can be from plenty of reasons, normaly you want it as close to the engine as posible. as the further away the exhaust housing and therefore the compressor turbine is, from the exhaust ports, the less hot the fumes are, leading to less energy which leads to worse turbo performance. but rarely enough that a random joe tinkering with his car will have reason to care.
@Ummm..... the picture is ai, but you can have rear turbos on front engine cars because turbos work from using exhaust gasses. its just more common for it to be near the engine
