This BMW S1000RR project is about bringing more detail, character and interaction to a motorcycle in BeamNG.drive—from the way it sounds and rides to the small things you notice in cockpit view.
The goal is a bike that feels complete: detailed exhaust options, a functional dashboard, a custom street-style rider, visible heat effects and damage that makes sense for individual parts.
This is an ongoing development project. The overview below covers the build I’m working toward; some features are still being refined or tested, and the final release list will confirm what is included.
The bike and its details
-
Custom textures and material improvements. Work on the paint, carbon, plastics and metal surfaces to give the bike a more consistent appearance, including correcting unwanted colour tints.
-
Improved model fitment. Cleaner exhaust routing, mounting brackets and connections, with attention to parts clipping through each other or through the fairings.
-
Mirror improvements. Work on their appearance, positioning and stability while riding.
-
Detailed digital dashboard. An HD-style display with a startup animation, riding information and a working lean-angle readout.
-
Lighting and controls. Rear brake lights, indicators and work toward functional handlebar switches for lights, horn and turn signals.
-
Small cockpit details. Visible brake fluid in the reservoir and a moving keychain that reacts to the bike’s movement.
-
Clean rear-end options. A version without the licence plate and plate holder for a different look.
Exhausts, tuning and sound
Exhaust choice is a major part of this project. The build includes work on stock-style, sport, SC-style and straight-pipe options, alongside dedicated exhaust layouts for the different turbo setups.
The aim is for each option to have a proper model, believable connections and its own character—not just a different name in the parts menu.
Sound development focuses on a raw, aggressive S1000RR character, with RPM-based samples, smoother transitions between acceleration and rev-down, stronger external sound and more audible drive-bys. Backfire and overrun sounds are also part of the work.
Tuning options and adjustable wheelie assistance are being developed alongside clearer control labels, making it easier to understand what each setting changes.
Progressive exhaust and brake heat
The exhaust heat effect is being developed as a gradual change along the system. The headers should heat first, with heat spreading toward the turbo and the rear pipe joining later at a lower intensity.
The focus is on smooth transitions between sections and colours, avoiding separate patches that suddenly switch on. Emissive glow, nearby lighting effects and subtle surface variation are all part of the intended look.
Brake work includes drilled discs and temperature-driven glow, alongside heat-related visual changes during hard use.
A custom street-style rider
The rider wears a black hoodie, dark jeans, sneakers and a helmet, with S1000RR and MaxlsModding lettering on the back.
Recent work has focused on the riding posture, keeping the hands and feet positioned correctly, improving ankle bends, curling the fingers around the grips and cleaning up the neck beneath the helmet.
The broader aim is smoother rider movement, more believable body weight shifts and a rider who looks seated on the motorcycle rather than simply placed above it. The latest rider revision is currently being reviewed in Blender and still needs BeamNG testing.
Crash behaviour and onboard details
Damage development focuses on individual components: bending forks, wheel separation in severe impacts, breakable mirrors, damaged footpegs and exhaust mounts that can fail locally. Scratches on plastics, carbon and the windscreen are also part of the visual damage work.
For onboard footage, the project includes work on a rear-mounted 360 camera, an action-camera mounting position, better camera alignment, subtle vibration and a toggleable recording light.
