How to Raise Horses in Farming Simulator 25?
Horses in Farming Simulator 25 can generate a good income. However, it is not as easy as it may seem at first glance. Therefore, let's look at this issue in a little more detail.
Horses cannot forage for food on their own, so when you place a pen, you will have to provide them with food. To place the pen, you need to open the construction menu, then select the “Animals” section, where several options of pens are presented. Each variant has a different capacity, but the maximum number of horses in one pen is 16.
There are differences between paddocks: some require water to be provided for the horses, while others do not. There are also paddocks where straw can be used. But this parameter is not mandatory.
Horses do not produce manure or slurry, so the focus is entirely on raising animals for later sale.
If you choose a paddock with the possibility of increasing the size, it still cannot accommodate more than 16 horses, even if you make it much larger in area. Size only affects visual space, not capacity.
Buying horses
Horses can be purchased in two ways: either order them with delivery directly to the paddock, or bring them yourself using an animal trailer. In the first case, a horse costs $500, but you will have to pay an additional $300 for transportation, bringing the total cost of one horse to $800.
If you use a trailer, you can avoid the transportation fee. But you will have to deliver the animals to the farm yourself. To do this, you need to buy a suitable trailer in the store, connect it to a truck or pickup truck, then go to the point of purchase of animals, located on the map.
There you can select horses without additional transportation fees. The trailer holds two horses at a time, then they can be taken to the corral and unloaded.
When purchased, the horses are 0 months old, have an initial health level and cost $120. To profit from them, they must be cared for, fed, brushed and ridden regularly.
Feeding the horses

In order to maintain the health and increase the value of the horses, it is essential to properly feed them. Three categories of feed can be seen on the animals' menu: staple feed, hay, and root vegetables. The total capacity of the feeder is limited, so you should properly distribute the amount of food between these three types.
The main feed can consist of oats or sorghum, both are equally effective. Hay is only used in the form of hay; grass should not be given to horses. Root vegetables can include carrots, beets and radishes.
In order to properly load feed into the paddock, proper technique must be used. If you load too much main feed, there will be no room for hay and root crops. You need to balance the amount of feed so that the total fill of the feed trough does not exceed the capacity limit of the pen.
Horses eat very little - in 36 months one horse consumes only about 1000 liters of feed, so if you have a full paddock for 16 horses, you only need to load about 16,000 liters of food and this will be enough for almost their entire growth cycle.
Horse care
In order for horses to grow healthy and their value to increase, there are a few mandatory procedures to follow. The most important is regular riding. You need to ride each horse at least once a day so that their fitness level increases.
To do this, you need to approach the horse, press the interaction key and saddle it. After that, moving at a gallop, you can notice how the “Daily Ride” scale fills up. It will take approximately one minute per horse to reach 100%.
Brushing is another important parameter. This will require you to purchase a brush from the tool store, then select it in your inventory and approach the horse. Brushing is done by holding down the action button and takes only a few seconds, after which the cleanliness scale will rise to 100%.
If you don't take care of the horses, their value increases extremely slowly and stops at the $1,500 mark. If, however, they are fed, brushed and ridden regularly, their value can reach $5,000.
Horse reproduction
Horses reach maturity at the age of 22 months. After that, their “Puberty” indicator turns to “Breeding” and they start to breed. New horses are born every 11 months and appear in the paddock automatically.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the number of empty spaces in the pen - if it is completely full, no new horses will be born. If necessary, you can move some of the animals to another pen to make room for the youngsters.
Selling horses and their profitability
The optimal time to sell horses is 36 months. By this point, their value reaches $5,000, and from there it begins to decline by $100 per month. If you sell the horses on time, you can maximize your profit.
There are two ways to sell:
-
Through the paddock - quick, but with a $300 commission per horse.
-
Via trailer - requires transportation, but at no additional cost.
If you ignore the care of the horses and just leave them in the paddock, feeding them only one type of food, their price will only rise to $1,500 in 36 months. Therefore, it is recommended that you feed them hay and staple feed at a minimum, as well as regular riding.
In order to maximize profits, it is necessary to properly organize feeding, ride daily and keep the animals clean. Breeding allows you to increase the number of horses at no extra cost, but requires controlling the number of spaces in the paddock.
If done correctly, each horse can bring in up to $4,500 in profit in 36 months.
