Oil Radish in FS25: A Budget-Friendly Fertilization Method
Oil radish in Farming Simulator 25 is a special crop that is not harvested for its yield. It is most often used as a natural fertilizer. Instead of buying manure, compost, or mineral fertilizers, you can simply sow the field with radishes, wait for them to grow, and then cultivate them. After that, the plot will receive a full layer of fertilizer.
This method does not require spending money on chemicals and can save you a lot of money in the long run.
Sowing and costs
You will need a standard seeder for sowing.
Almost all standard models in the store support this crop — the main thing is that there is an oil radish icon next to the name.
Seed consumption during sowing will be minimal: even large fields cost literally a couple of dollars.
As soon as the harvest is gathered from the field, you can immediately move on to sowing oil radish. Even a direct sowing seeder will do. No additional equipment or preparatory work is needed!
How radish works in the game
It takes one game month for oil radish to fully grow. It does not ripen in the usual sense: it simply displays the message “ready to harvest,” but you do not need to harvest it.
At this stage, you should go over it with a cultivator to chop up the radish crop so that it begins to fertilize the field.
If seasons are enabled, radishes can be sown from March to October. This is convenient when you need to occupy the field between harvests of main crops. For example, if you harvested in August, you have time until the end of October to plant radishes and cultivate them before winter. In the spring, the soil on this plot will already be fertilized, and you can immediately sow the next crop.
There is an interesting technique: if you use a seeder with the ability to apply fertilizer at the same time and plant radishes with fertilizer, and then cultivate them, the field will receive two layers at once. But if you simply sow a regular crop directly on top of the grown radish without plowing it, the fertilizer will not be counted. Therefore, it is better to cultivate the radish before moving on to the next crop.
Oil radish is not a mandatory element, but rather an alternative to traditional fertilization methods. With a limited budget, this method of fertilizing fields can be very useful.
