In early November, Farming Simulator 25 will release one of the most unusual additions in recent years - Highlands Fishing Expansion. The developers from GIANTS Software showed the first videos at Gamescom and made it clear that players in the next DLC are waiting for a new map and a whole range of mechanics, capable of diversifying the familiar farm life. 

Among the unique features of the map will be those that were not in any part of the series Farming Simulator. Therefore, be sure to finish the news if you want to know more about them.

Atmosphere of Scotland

The action takes place on a new map of Kinlaig, inspired by Scotland. There is everything you would expect from the British hinterland: stone fences, narrow roads, seaside town, green hills and even double-decker buses in traffic. The atmosphere is enhanced by the retro train, which can be used to transport products.

The fields on the map are small - space for large-scale farming is not much. But the relief is very diverse because of this map will seem very lively.

Fishing

The main innovation of the DLC is fishing. It is implemented in two formats.

The first format of fishing will be suitable for recreation. It is a way of fishing on a common rod. It will appear in the shop. Just buy the equipment and you can go to the water for trophies. In all likelihood, the fish will be found on rivers and ponds where it can be caught with a fishing rod.

The process of fishing is shown in the official video. Also, in the official blog developers tell a little about fishing. In the screenshot below you can see that the cost of fishing rod will be only 150 euros game currency.

But the fish will not appear itself on the hook. You have to look for good places where you can catch something. These are so-called, fish places.

According to the developers, the place of fishing will not be limited to the card Kinlaig. Fishing will also be possible on maps where there are ponds, such as Hutan Pantai, Riverbend Springs and Zielonka.

How to fish on a fishing pole in FS25?

To start, it will be enough to arm the fishing rod, go to the water and press the button to place the bait in the water. The bottom indicator will tell you the force of the throw. The longer you hold the button, the further the lure will fly accordingly.

To know that the fish has fallen on the hook will also be quite easy - below there will also appear a corresponding symbol, which will signal that it is time to pull the prey to shore. The main thing is to react at the right moment so that the fish does not come out.

After the catch, an indicator will appear near the rod. On it you can see how the fish behaves - going underwater or vice versa rising up.

There will be information about the bait. This information will help to carry out the business and pull the long-awaited prey to shore.

Fisheries

On the other hand, there is a professional approach. It will be possible to raise fish, build small farms on land for the fish and large water farms directly on the water.

The ship, which comes with a supplement, will help in the delivery of pallets with feed and chipper, and is also equipped with a crane for unloading.

The only thing we don’t know yet is what kind of fish we can catch. Maybe, eventually, they’ll tell us more about it. It is possible to assume that trout, salmon and similar species of fish of this family will be in the game, but these are only guesses.

New crop - Onion

In addition to fishing, DLC will add new opportunities in crop production. For the first time there will be a new culture - onion. The process of working with it will be a departure from potato farming, but with its own characteristics. The bow will be planted in the furrows with the help of a specialized shear. Then, when the required stage of growth is reached, the upper part of the plant is removed with a scrubber. After that you will have to resort to the use of special choppers and pickers to finally harvest the onion crop.

For working with the onions special equipment will be added - saddles, cleaners, shovels, soil removers and self-propelled harvester from Grim.

More than 20 new types of agricultural machinery

The developers promise more than twenty new units of technology. Among them are equipment from JCB, Monasem, Claas and other manufacturers. There are new seeders, manure spreaders, balers and machines for compact farms. For British enthusiasts, JCB models in different versions have been added. This DLC also debuts 4 new brands: Monosem, Can-Am, Agri-Spread and GT Bunning.

The list will include many new machines for work on land and water. In the video trailer of the supplement we were shown ships and new equipment for boating and fishing. It is not clear how many of these will appear in the game, but at least one ship will be accurate.

New animals and transport

Highlands Fishing Expansion is expanding livestock. A new breed of bulls will be added to the game, whose animation fits organically into the common color of the farms.

In addition, there will be quadricycles - another mode of transport for fast movements on the map. How useful they will be in the economy - a difficult question, but for variety and entertainment technology will clearly find fans.

• Possibility of fishing both in amateur format (with a rod), and on an industrial scale (aquaculture, logistics, sales).
• The atmospheric map of Kinlaig with British color and unique objects.
• New crops (especially onions) and specialized machinery.

The release of Highlands Fishing Expansion is due on November 4, 2025. DLC will be available for Windows and Mac OS X.
