Giants Software is planning a large-scale addition «Highlands Fishing Expansion» for the FS25, representing a new map with new features. The new map represents beautiful landscapes of Scotland with its characteristic rocky terrain and harsh nature.

This expansion is scheduled for November 4, 2025. Meanwhile, the developers are introducing players to new content that they will receive. So let’s take a look at what the Highlands Fishing Expansion is all about.

The new map will be called Kinlaig. And it is not just new fields and farms, but a whole story hidden among the Scottish hills. It is a small port town with narrow streets, authentic houses and majestic castles. They are very good at portraying the surroundings.

Here you will not only meet the beautiful nature, but also a lot of fun and profitable activities that were not previously in Farming Simulator 25, and to be more precise - fishing. And in different options - you can catch fish with a fishing rod, as well as do real business on the breeding of fish and catch it on an industrial scale.

On the streets you can find double-decker buses and even iconic Mini Cooper, and on the railway tracks - old train, as if from a postcard.

It is also worth paying attention to the interesting landscape, insanely beautiful mountains, interesting places on the map will be quite a lot.

There is a small town on the map that looks very beautiful. The buildings are not so many, but all of them well convey all the color typical of Scottish towns and villages.

Castles, ruins and secrets of the past

The map of Kinlaig is extremely rich in historical heritage. Here are located beautiful castles, preserved from the last century. The atmosphere is also complemented by ruins, which give some places special importance and enchant the eye. If you recall the map of RiverBand Springs, there was an old elevator museum with interesting mechanics. Perhaps something similar will be in Kinlaig. At least the developers' words in some sense can be read as a hint:

Although the castle in the village looks as pompous as it did hundreds of years ago, another desperately needs restoration. And the stone circles and their original purpose... who knows for sure? Maybe it is worth discussing his theories with the chief of the port.

In addition to the castles, on the plains of the Highlands there are ancient stone circles, the mystery of which remains unsolved.

The developers have added additional tasks - for example, you can get a quest from the port manager to find bottles with messages hidden all over the map. By collecting them all, the player will learn the complete history of these places, collected in a separate virtual book.

Fisheries and aquaculture

The main innovation that many expect from this addition is the possibility of fishing. Yes, for Farming Simulator 25 this kind of activity is not usual, but it sounds very interesting.

According to the creators themselves, fishing in the game will be divided into 2 ways: ordinary fishing for spinning and industrial fishing. With the first case everything is very clear - bought a fishing rod, cast and catch fish. But with the fish farming are more difficult. There are entire farms on the water, in which it will be possible to breed baby fish. The player will be able to build a water farm on land, grow a boy and produce food for him. After this, the young are transported to the port where special floating vessels on the open water are located.

For transportation, there is a unique barge with crane - the first in the history of the series official water transport. It is likely to be used for fishing.

New cultures, technologies and animals

Although the rocky terrain is not very suitable for growing crops, there will be an opportunity to pursue your favorite farm business. Moreover, there will be a new interesting agricultural crop - the bow. Well, of course, there will be a new technology for its cultivation.

The game will include equipment from the British manufacturer JCB, as well as a number of other tractors and equipment made in the national style.

Animal lovers will be pleased with the new addition, a new breed of cattle will appear in the game, which often lives on the lands of Great Britain.

Secrets of the lighthouse and messages in bottles

On the coast of Kinlaig, near the old lighthouse and shipwrecks, players are buried dozens of bottles with messages. These are collectibles and they are hidden in different corners.

Each found message is placed in a virtual book, which can be studied in the castle. Only by collecting all the bottles, the player will know the full history of these places.
