Ålesund is a new city in the Nordic Horizons DLC
The SCS Software team is preparing many new interesting DLC for ETS2. One of these is the Nordic Horizons add-on. The developers shared details about it, and more specifically about the Norwegian city of Ålesund.
City on the islands - and at the intersection of epochs
This coastal Norwegian city is built on islands and connected by a network of bridges and tunnels.
Ålesund is not a typical city. Its structure literally floats between the sea and mountains. In the city there is a new interesting route - Highway E136, leading to the city center. The city looks very beautiful, is full of beautiful buildings, narrow streets and elaborate infrastructure.
But behind this idyll is a complicated story. In 1904, a massive fire destroyed almost the entire city and it had to be rebuilt. The architects chose a modern style and it was he who defined the unique look of Olesuna.
The highlight of this city is the hill Aksla, towering above the city as a natural viewing platform that can be seen even from the highway.
Driving along its streets, drivers will be able to see landmarks: the Art Nouveau Center, the Kube Museum, the old Hellebroa bridge and the Rådhusplassen.
From fishing to logistics - a sea-breathing economy
Historically, the economy of Ålesund revolved around the sea, so it is likely to be the main source of cargo for transport. But this does not mean that there are no other industries. There is a container port, logistics company, beverage factory, chemical plant on the map. So there is a lot of variety for freight transport. At the same time, you are waiting for very interesting routes that sometimes can be very difficult, and on the other hand - interesting and challenging you as a master of freight.
Roads that lead to impressions
The journey to Ålesund begins on the E136, one of the most scenic routes in the region.
This route gradually leads the driver from the harsh mountain scenery straight into the city center, to narrow streets, embankments and picturesque buildings. But dense urban planning will require precision and attention when manoeuvring.
Gate to the fiords
The developers of SCS Software call Ålesund «gates to fjords», and not without reason. It connects players to other parts of the coast and opens up new routes and shipments. The atmosphere can be felt in every detail.
Right now the DLC Nordic Horizons is available to be added to the list of desired games on Steam! About the release date, obviously, the developers will announce later.
