Farming Simulator 22 will offer several improvements in sound. Some of them can already be heard in the videos below. Our two sound designers, Kris and Nils, present to you the audio experiences they have worked to improve the game. Take your headphones and listen!

Dynamic sound for engine and exhaust

Kris is currently working to implement new sounds in the vehicle engine using the new motor synthesis tool. The audio team and the programmers have worked together to create a new audio software tool to enable dynamic audio processing. Vehicle sounds are now transformed into the in-game environment in real time, making the machines realistic.

The principal new feature of the audio system is the dynamic processing of the load: it simulates the motor with different loads and resistors. Whether you're driving a tractor under an enormous load or uphill, the engine is more authentic. The sound team used real-life recording from real machines to achieve this.

New attachment audio system

Nils is working on the new audio system attachment. The audio team visited many local farmers to create references because attachments like cultivators and trailers created many different sounds. The new audio tool enables different sounds to be played during an animation.

For example, unloading the trailer with the rear lid opening, moved hydraulic components and a metal impact where metal has a heavy sound effect. Every attachment will have its individual set of sound effects in Farming Simulator 22.

There are many new sounds inside the cab, creating an immersive sound environment while driving your tractor. You do not only hear your tractor's engine, but various rattling sounds from all the objects in the cabin. That also includes sounds of windshield washing machines!
