How to Raise Goats in Farming Simulator 25?
Goats are one of the new animals in Farming Simulator 25. Breeding them will provide you with a steady income over a long period. Moreover, there are different ways to generate profit from these animals. Unlike cows, goats are less demanding in terms of care, yet they can still bring stable revenue through milk production and further processing.
However, proper placement of pens, purchasing and transporting goats, caring for them, and feeding them all play a crucial role. And that’s not even the full list of nuances. If you want to build a profitable farm focused on goats, this guide will help you understand all the details.
Placement of the goat pen

The first thing you need for goat breeding is a pen. Unlike cows, goats do not have a dedicated type of enclosure. They can be kept together with sheep. This means that when choosing a location for the pen, you need to look for a sheep enclosure, as it is also suitable for goats.
There are four types of pens in the game:
-
Small pasture – Holds up to 19 animals and requires water.
-
Medium pasture – Accommodates 26 animals and also requires water.
-
Large pasture – Also for 26 animals but has a different design.
-
Sheep barn – An enclosed pen for 68 animals that does not require water.
In addition to standard paddocks, Farming Simulator 25 now offers the possibility to create custom paddocks. This allows you to increase the capacity of the paddock by creating a fence with a non-standard shape.
When setting up a paddock, the game will offer you two options: place a standard paddock or create a custom paddock. If you choose the custom option, you will need to enclose the area by manually drawing the fence. It is important not to overlap the feeding point, as it remains fixed and cannot be moved.
Once the paddock has been placed, you can also choose whether to sow the pasture with grass. If you refuse, the surface will remain as it was in the area. If you agree, there will be thick grass for the goats to eat. However, it is worth remembering that the mechanics of grazing have not yet been finalized, and the pasture will not automatically regenerate - this may require additional manipulation.
Buying and transporting goats
Once the pen is set up, you can start buying goats.
Goats can be purchased in two ways:
-
Buy with delivery - a quick but costly way. The animals immediately appear in the pen, but an additional fee is charged.
-
Transport yourself - requires a special livestock trailer, but saves on shipping.
If you buy goats right in the pen, they will show up instantly, but you'll have to pay an extra fee for delivery. For the sake of saving money, you can use a livestock trailer and transport the animals yourself.
Goats of different ages are available at the livestock market: young, growing up and adult goats. The difference is that young goats are cheaper but do not produce immediately, while adult goats are ready to produce milk and breed immediately.
When using a livestock trailer, you must first drive to the loading point, select the right number of goats, load them onto the trailer, then transport them to the farm and unload them at the pen. This takes longer, but avoids the delivery fee.
Goat Care

Once goats are purchased, they need to be provided with all the necessities of life: water, feed and good housing conditions.
If the goats are in pasture, they need to have their water replenished regularly. This can be done with a cistern, filling it either from a body of water or from a water intake. In a sheep barn, the water is automatically supplied, which eliminates the need to replenish it.
Feeding

The diet of the goats affects their productivity and breeding rate. There are several types of fodder available in the game:
-
Meadow grass (100%) - an effective but limited resource (does not automatically regenerate).
-
Common grass (100%) - gives the same effect as meadow grass.
-
Hay (100%) - the most convenient option for stable feeding.
If meadow grass is available in the pen, goats will eat it first. If it is not available, you will need to load the feed by hand. Use hay beams that are sold at the store or make your own feed.
If there is already grass in the pen but you want to add hay, the goats will eat the hay first before moving on to the grass.
Goats do not require straw bedding, and they do not produce manure or liquid manure. This makes caring for them a little easier.
Milk production and sales

The main value of goats is milk, which they start producing after they reach adulthood. Goat milk is not stored in liquid form like cow's milk. It appears in the form of pallets that automatically appear next to the pen.
A forklift with pallet forks will be required for transportation. The pallets can be loaded onto a trailer and then hauled for sale or processing.
Goat milk can be sold to a dairy where it is bought raw. However, there are more profitable options - processing into bottled milk or goat cheese.
This requires building or utilizing an existing dairy plant where you can process the milk into other products.
Selling goats
Another way to make money is by selling animals. Over time, goats multiply, and if the pen is full, there will be no more new animals. To keep the profits up, you need to sell some of the herd on a regular basis.
Selling is possible in two ways. The easiest is through the pen interface, but you will have to pay a transportation fee. The second way is to transport the goats to the livestock market yourself with a trailer, which will avoid additional costs.
The price of goats increases with age, so it is more profitable to keep them until they are adults before selling them.
Goat breeding is a simple but profitable business that requires minimal expenses and gives a stable income.
Let's summarize what it takes to successfully breed these wonderful animals:
-
Choose and place a pen (it is better to use a sheepfold for convenience).
-
Purchase goats (with delivery or transport yourself).
-
Provide the animals with water and feed (use hay or grass).
-
Collect milk and sell it or process it to a dairy.
-
Breed goats and sell the adults for additional income.
By following these seemingly simple tips you increase the likelihood that your business in Farming Simulator 25 will become much more successful.
