Raising Sheep in FS25: Buying, Caring, Making a Profit
Sheep farming in FS25 is a very profitable business that can bring a good steady income. Moreover, the care of sheep is minimal. In this detailed guide to understand the process of raising sheep in the game and tell you how to feed and care for them, and most importantly - how to make money from it.
To start breeding sheep, you need to install a pen. To do this, enter the construction mode and select the "Animals" category. Then go to the "Sheep" subsection.
Different pen options will be available in the menu. Different pens can hold different numbers of sheep. Also, some sheep pens have an automatic water feature. Also note that the pasture will require a separate water carrier. Whereas in a sheepfold, the water will be supplied automatically.
If a pasture is selected, the system will prompt you to customize its size. Once set, the paddock can be scaled by simply "stretching" its fence. The larger the area, the more sheep can be kept inside.
After that, another suggestion will appear - to plant a meadow. Be sure to agree, because in 24 hours this field will become a natural source of fodder. This will help you save a lot on buying grass or hay.
Buying sheep: selecting age and breed
Once the pen has been set up, an icon in the form of an animal's footprint will appear next to it. Go to it and press the R key (on the PC) to open the menu for buying animals.
In the menu that opens, there are 3 breeds and age groups available. The cheapest are lambs that are 0 months old. But they will need to be raised to maturity to start bringing wool and breeding. Next comes the matured individual aged 3 months. And finally an adult sheep that is 8 months old. Older individuals are more expensive, but they will also start to make a profit immediately.
There is one nuance in the purchase of animals through the pen - an additional transportation fee is charged. The older the sheep, the higher the shipping fee.
It is better to buy a trailer for the transportation of animals and take the sheep from the livestock complex yourself. In this case, you will not have to pay for the transportation of the sheep.
Open the store and buy a tractor and an animal trailer in advance (you can find it in the category - Animal Transport).
Then open the map and find the location of the Animal Dealer on your map. Get to the building where they sell animals and drive up to the icon with the image of a paw. Then press the "R" key.
The purchase menu will open. Select the age and number of sheep and press “Buy”. They will be loaded into the trailer.

You only need to return to the farm and unload them at your pen by pressing "R".
Caring for sheep: water, food and meadow

If an open pasture is established, water must be brought in. You won't need a lot of water, but you will need to fill it up regularly. To do this, you will need a water truck (if you do not have one - buy it at the equipment store). Drive up to the water drop icon next to the paddock and activate water unloading. In a couple seconds it will be ready. If a sheep pen is installed - water is automatically supplied.
As for feed, sheep need either hay or grass. You can cut the grass by hand, use machinery, or just load it into the feeder. To do this, drive the tractor and trailer to the feeder (fork and knife icon) and press the "I" key to unload. This is enough for the sheep to start feeding.
If you sow grass when setting up the pen, after 24 game hours a special section in the animal menu will appear with the feed volume "Meadow". This meadow the sheep will use as a free source of food. The main thing is to plant it in time when setting it up, otherwise you can't change it back.
The sheep will first eat grass or hay from the feeder and only then will they move on to grazing. Therefore it is always a good idea to fill the feeder first. If the sheep run out of food or water, they will not die, but their productivity will drop dramatically.
Sheep breeding and wool production
Every 5 months, an adult and healthy sheep produces offspring. This is a good way to increase the flock or to make money by selling extra animals. The animal menu shows the breeding rate - it will increase with good care.
As for wool - this is the main source of income from sheep. Wool automatically appears in pallets in a specially marked area next to the pen. In the animal menu you can see the exact amount of wool accumulated. One pallet starts to fill up from 0 and up to 1,000 liters. After that, the next one will appear.
The wool can be sold directly. To do this, take the pallet to the nearest collection point. To choose the most profitable place, open the price menu, search for "Wool" in the list of products and select the point with the highest price. Prices vary by month, and the best deals are usually in May. So if you want to earn more, it makes sense to wait for the right time.
To earn more, the wool can be recycled. First you will need a spinning mill, where the wool is used to make cloth, and then a garment shop, where the cloth is used to make clothes. The final product is much more expensive, but requires additional investment in production. In further guides, we will consider in more detail how to establish this production in more detail.
Selling sheep: how and where
Sheep can be sold in the same way as buying them. Go to the icon near the pen, open the menu and select the animals to sell. A transportation fee will be charged, just like when buying. An alternative method is to use a transportation trailer and drive the sheep to the livestock facility yourself. This will avoid transportation fees.
Note that the price of a sheep depends on its age and condition. The older and more productive the animal, the higher its value. It is best to sell sheep after they have given offspring and had time to grow wool.
