Sugar Mill Guide: From Cane to Profit in FS25
If you have just started to master the production chains in Farming Simulator 25 and are interested in processing sugar cane or beets, you should pay attention to the sugar factory. It can produce sugar that can be sold or used in other industries. And it is worth saying that this is a very profitable occupation, which over time can bring a stable profit.
To begin with, you need to decide where you will place the sugar factory. Depending on the map, you can both find an existing factory building and build your own. If there is already a sugar factory on the map, you can easily find it on the map. It is usually marked with a factory icon.
Once you have found it, you need to approach it and activate the interaction menu to buy the building.
If you buy a functioning factory, you immediately get access to all its functions, but if you later decide to sell it, you will lose about half of the invested funds.
If you prefer complete freedom of action and want to place the factory in a convenient location, open the construction menu and go to the factories section.
There you can choose between two versions of the sugar factory - a standard and a smaller one. The larger version processes products ten times faster than the smaller one. The cost of construction and future profits directly depend on this parameter, so the choice should depend on the scale of your farm.
Once the building is installed and paid for, you can move on to the next stage - loading raw materials.
Raw materials for sugar factory
Once you have placed or purchased a sugar factory, it is time to submit raw materials for processing. There are three types of crops available in the game that can be used for the sugar factory. These are sugar cane, sugar beets, and shredded beets. Each of these resources yields sugar, but with different efficiency.
To load raw materials, you need to find a special receiving point on the territory of the plant.
In stationary factories placed on the map from the beginning, this point is marked with a characteristic unloading icon. If you have built the facility yourself, the large version has a receiving point on the side of the building, while the small version is most often on the back side, although this may depend on how you have placed the building on the site.
To feed the raw material you drive up to the specified point with a trailer containing the desired resource and unload it. After unloading, the crop automatically enters the production storage and is displayed in the corresponding menu.
For sugar cane and sugar beet the procedure is the same, but for shredded sugar beet you need to pre-process regular sugar beet through special equipment. This is worth taking care of in advance if you want to use ordinary beets as raw material.
Each type of raw material has its own production formula. For example, to get 1 liter of sugar from cane, you will need 2 liters of the original product. With shredded beets, the proportion is more favorable - for 5 liters of raw material you will get 3 liters of sugar. This is worth considering when choosing the main crop for processing, especially if you are focused on profitability.
Start-up and production management
When the raw materials are loaded, it is time to activate the processing. The sugar factory only starts working after a manual startup, and without that you won't get any sugar - everything will just remain lying in storage. To start the process, approach the factory and find the icon with a wrench - this is the production management interface.
You can also go to the global menu (Escape key on the PC or the corresponding button on the console), go to the "Production Chains" section and select your factory from the list.
Inside the interface, you'll see a list of available recipes.
Despite the fact that the end product is always the same - sugar, you can process different raw materials. Just activate the desired line with the recipe, and the factory will start working, if the required amount of resources is available. All three recipes can be activated at the same time. The production does not divide the power between them, but works at full capacity if there are enough raw materials available. This is called "indivisible power", and it's a big plus, as nothing is slowed down or split in half like in other production chains.
At the bottom of the screen you will see information about the processing speed - how many cycles the plant performs per month. This figure is of course much higher in the large version than in the compact version. For example, when working with crushed beets, the large plant performs 5880 cycles per month, and each of them turns 5 liters of raw material into 3 liters of sugar. Please note: if you have a 1-day month set in your settings, all cycles will occur in one game day. If 3-day - the processing will be spread over three days.
This is also where the maintenance costs are displayed. You will see a dollar amount for the month that will be automatically deducted. The costs do not depend on how active production is going - they are fixed if at least one of the recipes is active.
Where sugar appears and what to do with it
Once processing starts, finished goods begin to accumulate. In our case, this is sugar. However, it does not appear instantly. Production will run until the minimum amount of product necessary to create a pallet is accumulated. Only then will the sugar appear physically in the game world in the form of a standard pallet.
Where to look for these pallets?
Each sugar factory on the territory has a designated place to spawn them. This is a rectangular area marked with a light gray or white checkerboard texture on the asphalt. In a large factory this zone is located on the side of the main building, and in a small one more often at the back, but again it depends on how you placed it during construction.
By default, the production is set to "Storage" mode. This means that all pallets will appear on the site and stay there until you pick them up. However, you can manually change the factory mode to other modes:
If set to "Sell," all sugar produced will be automatically sold every hour, but at a loss of some profit, since the system deducts 20 to 40 percent for automatic sales.
If you select "Distribution," the sugar will be automatically transferred to your other operations where it is used as an ingredient, such as a bakery or dairy. This is especially useful if you are building a complete production chain.
In storage mode, when the pallet drop zone fills up, the factory will automatically suspend production to prevent losses. So keep an eye on the site and remove the products in time to avoid blockage.
Now that the sugar has been produced and is ready to be shipped, the logical question arises - how to transport it? Read about it below.
How to move sugar and what equipment is needed for this

As soon as pallets of sugar have appeared on the territory of your factory, they will need to be transported - whether for sale, to another production facility or simply into storage. Farming Simulator 25 has a variety of tools for this purpose, suitable for all play styles and budgets.
The first and most versatile method is to use a tractor with a front loader. You will need a tractor that supports the front loader setup, the loader itself, and of course a pallet fork. All of this can be purchased at a hardware store. When choosing, be sure to pay attention to compatibility - the power of the tractor should match the equipment requirements. If the technique is too weak, it simply will not cope with the weight of pallets, especially if you load them on a trailer.
An alternative approach is to use specialized equipment like telescopic handlers, forklifts, mini forklifts or wheel loaders.
Telescopic handlers offer excellent reach and are suitable for pallet stacking. Forklifts are ideal for maneuvering in tight spaces.
Each type of machine requires its own attachment. A telescopic handler requires its own forks, a mini loader its own forks, and so on. All of this is also bought at the store and attached to the machine via a mounting system controlled by keys or buttons on the controller.
If you play on PC, you have an additional option - activation of super strength. This allows you to lift any pallets manually without using machinery. You can enable this feature through the command console, but only if you have activated access to it in advance. You can install the mod by downloading it on ModLand so that you have the ability to lift large items available.
For console players, this feature is unfortunately not available - they will have to rely only on equipment.
Pallets are transported using special flatbed trailers. Some of them support autoloading, but since we are focusing on a clean version of the game without mods, you will have to load them manually. After placing the pallet on the trailer, secure it with straps to avoid shifting when moving.
Profitability of a sugar factory
Profitability of a company, as in real life, here everything depends on calculations. Here you need to take into account what raw materials to use, how much to process and how to sell the finished product. Let's understand in order.
Each type of raw material has its own profitability. For example, the processing of shredded beets is considered the most profitable per cycle, although it requires preliminary preparation.
Beets and cane are slightly less profitable, but easier to process.
Different materials allow for a different number of cycles per month. This directly affects the volume of finished product and overall profit.
A large factory can generate significant revenue if there is a steady supply of raw materials.
Now let's look at pricing scenarios. When choosing a marketing method, you need to take into account that:
In storage mode, you sell the products yourself and receive the full price.
In sale mode, the game automatically sells the sugar, but retains up to 40% of its price.
In distribution mode, you do not receive money, but the sugar is used as a semi-finished product in other productions.
If we talk about the ratio of investment and income, the processing of shredded beets is the most efficient option in terms of profit per unit of resource. However, both regular beets and sugar cane remain worthy candidates, especially if they are easier to grow on your land.
If you want to maximize your profits - process the crushed beets in a large factory, keep an eye on the pallet spavin and sell the sugar yourself at a high price. This will maximize your return on investment.
The main advantage of the factory is the flexibility in the choice of raw materials. You can start with cane if you are working in a warm climate or on a suitable map, or switch to beets if they are available in larger quantities. And if a beet chopper is available, switch to processing at maximum margins.
Also, don't underestimate the possibility of using sugar in other production lines. By distributing it to a bakery or dairy operation, you can maximize the value of the final product.
If you're looking for a way to keep your machinery busy, build a stable business and gradually build up your income - a sugar mill would be a great choice. Especially if you are willing to spend a little time on pallet logistics and prefer to sell your products yourself.
