Rice in FS25 is a new crop that requires special conditions for planting and growing. This crop is significantly different from the usual agricultural crops like canola, wheat, oats, and others. Therefore, to cultivate it successfully, you need to have specific knowledge. That’s why this article will be extremely useful in helping you get started. You will learn how to plant and harvest rice, as well as discover many different nuances and features that can be useful when working with rice.
The game features two types of rice: regular and long-grain, each with its own characteristics for planting and harvesting. Additionally, different equipment is needed for planting and harvesting each type.
Let's go over how to grow and harvest rice properly to ensure a bountiful yield and maximize profit. Rest assured, it's not as difficult as it may seem. There are just some differences that change the process slightly. So, let’s get started!
How to Plant Regular Rice in Farming Simulator 25

Planting regular rice is a unique process that requires not only certain skills but also specialized equipment for sowing the crop and harvesting it later.
To make the information easier to digest, we’ll go through everything step by step.
Soil Preparation
The first step to successfully growing rice is preparing the soil.
For regular crops, soil preparation usually involves using plows, cultivators, and other agricultural tools to loosen the soil and get it ready for planting. However, for regular rice, things are a bit different. We already know that rice requires a lot of moisture, so it is sown in special flooded fields. These are small areas that consist of a shallow dug-out section filled with water.
To create a flooded rice field, simply open the construction menu for static objects and buildings in FS25, go to the "Cultivation" section, and use the special tool to create a rice field. The cost is relatively low, starting at $1,500.
Once the field creation tool is selected, you should create the field by setting its boundaries in the desired area. You will receive various on-screen prompts indicating which keys to press.
You can see the process of creating rice fields in the screenshots. In fact, it’s a very simple and quick process. But this step is essential because sowing rice on standard fields is not possible.
Note: Rice fields must be limed. The liming process should be done at least once every few harvests, but it is recommended to do it after each season. When creating these fields, they are automatically limed for the first time, so there is no need to lime them when they are initially set up.
Flooding the Field

Flooding is a crucial step when growing this type of rice. The field needs to be completely filled with water to create a suitable environment for planting. The water level must remain stable, which requires regular monitoring of the irrigation channels.
In FS25, special equipment is used to maintain the proper level of flooding. This equipment consists of a specialized water pump that quickly and efficiently fills the dug-out area with water. You only need to oversee the process.
Once the field is sufficiently filled with water, you can proceed to planting the seedlings.
Planting Rice
This rice can only be planted using seedlings, which need to be grown beforehand or purchased as ready-made seedlings. If you want to save money and increase your profits, it is recommended to grow the rice seedlings yourself in greenhouses.
Don't worry—growing seedlings in specialized greenhouses is an interesting and not too complicated process. You will need rice seeds, which can be bought in the store, as well as a greenhouse and equipment for transporting pallets and supplying water.
If this option doesn’t suit you, ready-made seedlings for planting are also available for purchase in the agricultural store (key P).
What Equipment is Needed?
A special planter adapted for flooded field conditions is used for planting rice. It is called the ISEKI PRJ8D. This specialized mobile planter is designed exclusively for planting rice seedlings on flooded fields. You can purchase this equipment at the Farming Simulator 25 machinery store. Its price is only $25,500, and it will last for more than one season.
Now that you have the seedlings, the planter, and the prepared field, you can start planting rice. To do this, fill the planter with seedlings and hop in. On the flooded field, begin planting the seedlings evenly. The planter will perform the entire procedure automatically; you just need to supervise the process to ensure uniform planting.
It is important to carry out planting in favorable weather conditions to avoid risks associated with overwatering or drying out the seeds. Keep this factor in mind when planting rice.
Congratulations! You have successfully planted rice. Now you just need to wait for it to mature and be ready for harvesting. There is no need to monitor the water level for this type of rice—this step is only necessary for long-grain rice.
Note that you may need to visit the field from time to time to monitor the growth process. Some treatments, such as fertilizing, weeding, or applying herbicides to eliminate weeds, may be necessary.
It is also important to take preventive measures to protect the crop from adverse weather conditions, such as tornadoes or thunderstorms.
How to Plant Long-Grain Rice

Long-grain rice has its own unique requirements for cultivation, making it important to choose the right field. Unlike regular rice, this variety requires drier conditions during the early stages of growth. It is best to prepare the field in areas with good drainage to avoid excessive waterlogging.
Planting long-grain rice is done on dry fields, with water added after planting to continually nourish the plant.
Creating a Field for Long-Grain Rice
In essence, this process is almost identical to what was discussed earlier. You will still need to go into the Farming Simulator 25 construction menu and create a special field for planting rice.
However, let’s go step by step. Start by reviewing the instructions for creating a rice field, which are provided above.
Sowing on a Dry Field
Long-grain rice is sown on a dry field, which sets it apart from regular rice. Use a standard seeder for grain crops and conduct planting in optimal weather conditions to improve seed germination.
Almost any seeder and harvester specialized for long-grain rice will work, as long as they can handle the seeder you've purchased. For example, you can use seeders like the Novag T-Force Plus 950, Köckerling Ultima 800, or any other suitable model. The most important thing is to ensure your tractor can pull it.
Buy long-grain rice seeds from the store, bring them to the seeder, and fill it up. Once you confirm that the seeder is attached to the tractor, head to the field and start planting. Drive onto the prepared field, lower the seeder, and activate it. Then, simply move forward and gradually plant the entire field with rice.
It is important to monitor the soil condition and irrigate it if needed. More on that below.
Flooding the Field After Sprouting and Water Control

So, you’ve successfully planted the field with rice? Great! Now it’s time to manage the water supply system. Although this crop does not require the field to be flooded before planting, it does need a significant amount of moisture. Therefore, when the seedlings reach a few centimeters in height, the field can be flooded.
This will provide the plants with the necessary conditions for further growth. It is important to maintain a constant water level so that the roots can get enough oxygen.
Typically, you don't need to do anything extra. When you create the field, a special irrigation system is automatically installed nearby. You just need to ensure that the water level is stable and keep a consistent water supply.
Keep in mind that maintaining a constant water supply directly affects the amount of yield you will get from your field.
Fertilization and Care
Long-grain rice also requires regular fertilization. Use organic or mineral blends to strengthen the plants and improve their resistance to adverse conditions. Additionally, pay attention to weed removal.
You can read an article on how to increase crop yield. It contains many helpful tips that will help preserve your harvest in FS25.
Another important point is not to forget to apply lime to the fields after harvesting long-grain rice. This is a crucial aspect to consider in order to maintain maximum yield.
Harvesting Rice
Harvesting rice in FS25 requires a special approach, and the process may vary depending on the type of crop being grown.
To harvest the rice, you will, of course, need a combine harvester. It is important to note that not every harvesting machine is suitable for rice, especially given the presence of two types of this crop.
For regular rice, you will need an Iseki HJ6130 combine. This is a specialized agricultural machine designed for harvesting rice from fields. However, you can also use any other model that supports harvesting this crop, including modded equipment.
As for long-grain rice, the situation is a bit simpler. Any agricultural combine and header suitable for this variety of rice can be used for harvesting.
Completing the Harvest and Selling
After completing all stages of harvesting and processing the rice, you can proceed to sell or process it. In FS25, rice is in high demand, and you can choose where to direct the yield: sell it directly, process it at local factories, or use it for the production of other goods.
Remember that if you integrate the grain into further production chains, it will significantly increase your profit.
