Rockstar Games has decided to surprise gamers - and this time in a good way. Now modifications for GTA V are officially allowed! Moreover, the studio has begun cooperation with the 5M platform, where the most popular RP servers live and develop.

This step looks especially unexpected, given the past behavior of Rockstar. Not long ago, the company actively fought with modders, threatened them with lawsuits and sought the removal of major fan projects like Liberty City Preservation Project and Vice City The Next Gen Edition. These mods tried to breathe new life into the GTA classics, but the studio saw them as competition to its commercial remasters - and quickly put an end to the enthusiasm of the authors.

A new stage: now mods - green light

The turnaround happened in 2023, when Rockstar bought out Cfx.re - the developers of 5M and RedM. Then it was already clear that the studio is changing course. And now it is confirmed officially: Rockstar not only allows mods, but even offers tools. In particular, released a special plugin-converter, which helps to adapt old modifications to GTA V: Enhanced. Now it is easier and more convenient to make improvements.

Thus, Rockstar gives a clear signal: “Modders - welcome!” Many believe that this is part of the preparations for the launch of GTA VI - the company is trying to favor the community, show a “human face” and regain the trust of players who are tired of bans and restrictions.

Of course, it's too early to say whether such openness will work in the case of future games. But we can already say that cooperation with 5M and support for modifications is a big step forward in the relationship between Rockstar and the gaming community. We hope it will continue to be so.
