The Prologue Mission is the first story chapter in Grand Theft Auto V, set in the town of Ludendorf, North Yankton, in 2004. It is an instructional but action-packed episode that lays the groundwork for the entire game. It centers around three armed raiders, Michael, Trevor, and Brad. We are involved in a bank robbery that doesn't go according to plan from the start.
Taking hostages and blowing up the safe

The first thing to do after the opening splash screen is to take control of the situation. The control is handed over to Michael, and it is his task to force the hostages to move to a safe room. To do this, we must point our guns at the crowd at the wall. People will start moving towards the door and hide behind it. After making sure no one is left outside, we can proceed with the plan.
Soon Trevor appears and informs us that the explosives are already in place. It is necessary to activate it with a cell phone. We open the phone, go to contacts and select the desired item - after pressing the call detonation occurs. The safe is open, we can go inside.
In the vault there are several bags with cash waiting for us. We approach them and hold the interaction key until the full collection of funds. The whole operation takes a few seconds - the amount of the robbery is approximately 180,000 dollars.
Attacking the guard and switching to Trevor

On the way out of the vault, the unexpected happens. One of the guards, who no one noticed, grabs Michael and threatens him with a gun. This is the moment when we first utilize the character switching mechanic. The game gives us access to the character selector and we switch to Trevor.
Once control is handed over, a quick removal of the threat is required. Trevor aims for the guard's head and shoots. The threat is eliminated and the team is back together.
Shootout at the exit and breakout to transport

The path to freedom is already blocked by the arriving police. We exit through the back door and immediately come under fire. Here begins the training part, dedicated to shooting and tactical cover. There are several enemies, they shoot from different directions. You should use cover - dodge, shoot from around corners, move forward alternately with your partners.
The firefight lasts for several minutes. The task - to clear the street, to get to the prepared SUV. On the approach to the car it becomes clear: the driver is killed. One of the raiders gets behind the wheel - usually it's Michael, unless there was a switch back.
Escape and Railroad Disaster

Once on the road, we head toward the evacuation point that is indicated on the GPS. The car is traveling on a slippery snow-covered road, the speed is high, but there are no more enemies on the route. The situation escalates at the railroad crossing. The SUV gets stuck on the tracks, and at that moment a train crashes into it. Explosion, wreck, the heroes barely get out of the corroded cabin.

Almost immediately a sniper starts shooting at them. Brad is the first to fall - the shot is fatal. Michael is also wounded and orders Trevor to leave. However, he does not intend to give up.
The last firefight and escape

The control is turned on again - now we have Trevor. We need to take a position and fight back the arriving police officers. Ammo is limited, the enemies are getting more and more. After a short firefight, another screensaver is activated. Trevor uses a passing woman as a human shield and, shooting back, hides in the winter forest.
Thus, out of the entire group of raiders, only he survives.
Consequences: a funeral, an FIB agent and a new life

The next scene is Michael's fake funeral. Family and friends mourn his death, the coffin is buried under the solemn speech of the priest. However, Michael himself is hiding near the cemetery - alive and whole. He has become a participant in the witness protection program. In the background, a federal bureau agent appears - the same one Michael made a deal with.
The “Prologue” mission does not include medals. It is a tutorial episode that serves as a basis for familiarizing yourself with the mechanics. Despite the lack of complete freedom, some actions can be failed - for example, allow the death of a character during a firefight or incorrectly interact with the system of changing heroes. At the same time, after each failure you will be prompted to start from the last checkpoint.
