Power/Torque Curve
Description
The 1914 Anasagasti is a landmark in the history of Argentine industry, as it is considered the first domestically manufactured automobile to be mass-produced. Its origins can be traced to the ingenuity and vision of Horacio Anasagasti.
Contrary to the image of speed and competition, the 1914 Anasagasti was conceived primarily as a vehicle for tourism and leisure. Its design was based on the philosophy of the high-quality European vehicles of the time. It was intended for Argentina’s emerging middle class, which sought a sturdy and comfortable means of transportation for traveling on the country’s often-difficult roads.
Features
- Tourer-style or open body, with room for several passengers, high seats, and an upright driving position.
- Four-cylinder engine with a displacement of approximately 2.5 to 3.0 liters, producing between 40 and 50 caballos de vapor.
- Wheelbase of 2.75 meters to provide a stable and smooth ride.
- Rigid axle and leaf spring suspension, providing robustness for its time.
Although the car was not a race car in its production version, its durability and performance were put to the test in endurance races and rallies. The 1912 model is the precursor to the Sport version, which competed and achieved fame in national and international Grand Prix races.
