History & Context
The 1992 BMW 325i Sedan redefined what an entry-level luxury sports sedan could be, replacing the legendary E30 architecture with a sleek, wind-tunnel-tested profile inspired by the flagship 8 Series coupe. Because it was the inaugural year, it features a raw mechanical character and distinctive quirks.
The Pure Mechanical Heart: The Non-VANOS M50
The definitive feature is its 2.5-liter M50 inline-six engine. Producing 189 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, this specific engine is highly revered because it is completely Non-VANOS. It delivers a linear powerband and a sharp, mechanical throttle response.
Revolutionized Handling & Footprint
The E36 debuted a sophisticated multi-link "Z-axle" rear suspension. This setup, combined with a stretched wheelbase, gave the sedan razor-sharp cornering stability and a near-perfect 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution.
Specifications
- Engine: 2.5L DOHC 24-Valve Inline-6 (M50B25)
- Output: 189 hp @ 5,900 RPM / 181 lb-ft @ 4,700 RPM
- Performance: 0–60 mph in ~8.0 seconds
- Curb Weight: ~3,021 lbs
Installation Instructions
For better steering options, go to the new content manager FFB TWEAKS and activate these settings: Basic, more physically accurate gyro implementation, additional post-processing script, additional post-processing and custom soft lock. Tweak between these settings for the best experience. Keep the default CM settings otherwise.
