Power/Torque Curve
This model keeps the same engine as the previous generation STI, a 2.5- liter EJ257 with twin AVCS, but with ECU tweaks that have enhanced fuel efficiency marginally while also increasing output by 6 kW (8.0 hp) to 227 kW (305 HP). Torque has decreased from 407 N⋅m (300 lb⋅ft) to 394 N⋅m (291 lb⋅ft) at 4,000 rpm, resulting in a peak speed of 160 mph (258 km/h).
There are also rumors that, in conjunction with the ECU upgrades, the rev limit was increased to 7,100 rpm to accommodate the power boost in the higher rev range and a stronger top end. It also retains the hydraulic power steering system, as opposed to the WRX's new electric- assisted rack. The steering rack was modified to a faster 13:1 ratio, as used in Japan- delivered cars, rather than the 15:1 ratio of prior versions. In addition, the new 2015 WRX STI retains the 2.0- liter EJ207 engine that is standard on Japanese STIs.
