Power/Torque Curve
Description
The 1984 Volkswagen Gol GT 1.8 was the turning point that saved the Gol lineup from commercial failure and established the "hot hatch" era in Brazil. Launched in April 1984, it served as VW's direct, high-performance response to the highly successful Ford Escort XR3.
Features
- TWIN_GARRETT_GTX2860R_TURBO pushing 340+WHP
- BOSCH LE-JETRONIC electronic fuel injection
- Upgraded exhaust and performance header (exhaust manifold)
- 12-inch Rotor and Brembo Brakes
- Android Auto
- Emissive Lights: Main headlights (EXTRA_A), Foglights (EXTRA_B)
- Animations: DVD Screen Open (EXTRA_C), Sunroof Tilt (EXTRA_D), Sunroof Open (EXTRA_E), Front Driver Windows (EXTRA_F), Front Passenger Windows (EXTRA_G)
History & Context
When Volkswagen initially launched the Gol in 1980, it underperformed due to its weak, air-cooled 1.3L and 1.6L boxer engines. To rewrite the car’s reputation, VW of Brazil developed the GT version, introducing liquid cooling and performance engineering.
Mechanical Architecture
- The MD 280 Engine: 1.8-liter engine based on Audi design architectures, producing 99 horsepower and 14.9 kgfm of torque. It featured a mini-progressive carburetor and a distinctively long crankshaft stroke.
- German Camshaft Tuning: Utilized the performance camshaft from the German Golf GTI for a sharp, high-revving powerband.
- The Transmission: Initially a four-speed manual, upgraded to a five-speed manual transmission during the 1985 model cycle.
- Chassis & Exhaust: Stiffened, performance-tuned suspension with a lower ride height and a factory Kadron dual-outlet exhaust for a deep, aggressive note.
Installation Instructions
Car steering set up with logitech 923, basic old content manager set up. For better steering options, go in the new content manager FFB TWEAKS and activate these settings: Basic, more physically accurate gyro implementation, additional post-processing script, additional post-processing and custom soft lock.
