Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was first opened in 1931. Donington Park is known for hosting a variety of motorsport events, including motorcycle and car racing.
The circuit gained fame for its hosting of the European Formula One Grand Prix for a brief period in the 1990s, specifically the 1993 race, which is remembered for Ayrton Senna's remarkable opening lap in the rain. The Grand Prix was originally set to return to Donington Park in 2010, but the circuit's financial difficulties at the time led to the cancellation of this plan.
In addition to F1, Donington has been a staple venue for other racing series such as the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), British Superbike Championship (BSB), World Superbike Championship (WSBK), and various club-level racing events. It also houses the Donington Grand Prix Collection, which, until its closure in 2018, was one of the world's largest collections of Grand Prix cars.
The track layout is known for its challenging combination of high-speed straights and technical corners, as well as significant changes in elevation. The most famous section of the circuit is probably the Craner Curves, a fast and flowing sequence of bends that lead into the Old Hairpin.
