Second Generation (2017-Present)

• Redesign: The second-generation Insignia was introduced in 2017, featuring a more refined design, improved aerodynamics, and a lighter chassis. The new model was longer, lower, and wider, giving it a more dynamic stance.
• Body Styles: This generation continued with the sedan, hatchback, and estate body styles. Opel also introduced a more rugged version, the Insignia Country Tourer, designed with a higher ground clearance and body cladding for a more SUV-like appearance.
• Engine Options: The engine lineup included a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, with improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The top-end models still offered all-wheel drive and performance variants, though the OPC/VXR branding was dropped.
• Technology: The second-generation Insignia features an array of modern technology, including a head-up display, IntelliLux LED matrix headlights, and advanced driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. It also offers an upgraded infotainment system with smartphone integration.
• Market Presence: In certain markets, the Insignia is sold under different names, like the Buick Regal in North America and China or the Vauxhall Insignia in the UK. However, as part of Opel's integration into the PSA Group (now Stellantis), the future of the Insignia in these markets became uncertain, and its availability was gradually phased out in some regions.
