The Hummer brand has been owned by the huge General Motors concern for many years. The company specializes in the production of cross-country vehicles. Hummer SUVs are manufactured at the General Motors Corporation plant in Mishawaka, Indiana. In 1979, Hummer specialists began working on the creation of a military vehicle. This project was named HMMWV M998, which means highly mobile multipurpose transport model 998. It is from this abbreviation that the name of the Hummer company came out. The result of painstaking work was the HUMMER H1 military SUV, released in 1981. In addition, work has begun on a project for a civilian model of this car.
