In the late 1990s, Gavril planned to launch the Sedona trim. It would have been an ultra-luxury package designed to be the absolute pinnacle of the D-Series lineup. It boasted a plush, updated interior and a distinctive, upscale quad-headlight front fascia. However, the project was abruptly canceled due to sudden changes in federally mandated fuel efficiency requirements. These strict new regulations forced Gavril to rapidly redesign the D-Series exterior with a much more aerodynamic front end, which ultimately became the curvier, late-model facelift version produced from 1998 to 2003.
Because the blocky Sedona design was shelved, Gavril repurposed its unique quad-headlight fascia for the H-Series van lineup instead, as it faced less stringent efficiency standards under the commercial vehicle category.
Beyond the exclusive styling, the Sedona project served as a testbed for Gavril’s chassis engineering, featuring a revolutionary heavy-duty Independent Front Suspension layout across almost the entire lineup, even on the heavy-duty dually configurations! (The commercial D45 variant retained the solid front axle due to weight capacity.)
A handful of fully functional factory prototypes of the D-Series Sedona were built. Originally destined for museum vaults, they remain the ultimate holy grail of Gavril history!
Features
- The H-Series passenger van's high-end early front fascia, slightly modified to fit the D-Series' front end.
- Modified hood, fenders, and radiator support for a seamless fit with the pointed fascia.
- Custom-made bumpers, bumper lip, bumper trim, valance, and license plate holder mimicking the real-life GMT400 platform.
- Modified D-Series jbeam to match the shape of the modded parts.
- Custom-made badging on the fascia, rear cab pillars, and tailgate.
- Custom configurations using late-model D-Series interiors and Gavril AllSport two-tone wheels for a late 90s luxury vibe.
Sedona Prototypes:
D15 Sedona - Predicted to be the most common configuration.
D15 Sedona Stepside - The iconic classic throwback variant in Sedona trim.
D25 Sedona - Heavier-duty version with a powerful diesel engine.
D35 Sedona Dually - Heavy-hauling combined with luxury.
D10 Kentarch Sedona - Massive luxurious family hauler with 3 rows of seats.
D10 Charro Sedona - Short-wheelbase luxury package in a rugged two-door body.
D15 Sedona Default - The legendary default vehicle of BeamNG.drive in Sedona trim.
