Founded in Japan in the mid-2000s, Hikari Speed 光 was founded with a singular mission: to make Hirochis faster. Commonly referred to as simply Hikari, the name — written as 光 — translates to “to shine”, a reference and fitting extension onto the Sunburst name plate. And “Shine” is exactly what your Sunburst, SBR4, or other Hirochi vehicle will do when equipped with our performance parts. With distribution and development centers in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Osaka, Japan, Hikari Speed operates and supplies customers globally
Background:
This project began just before the release of v0.36, based on the assumption that the remastered Sunburst would share its engine architecture with the SBR4. That assumption gave me a head start, allowing time to dissect the platform, understand its quirks, and begin to prepare a full range of upgrades ready for day one.
Ultimately, the SBR4 and Sunburst featured different turbo setups and different F4’s entirely upon release, but the early development process yielded valuable insight into both platforms — and produced a strong boost controller for the SBR4 in the process.
Since then, Hikari Speed 光 has grown beyond its roots, and what began as a hunch has evolved into the most comprehensive, lore friendly, and realistic performance suite available for the Hirochi Sunburst

Whether you are just flashing your daily or pushing the limits of the platform, the Hikari Bench Unlock and Hikari Street Turbo System put every critical parameter in your hands. Designed from the ground up to support everything from stock tunes to fully built engines, these two upgrades form the core of the Hikari tuning ecosystem, delivering industry first levels of customization, immersion, and power control for the Hirochi Sunburst vehicles.

Unlock full control of your Sunburst’s performance.
Hirochi ECUs are factory-locked and encrypted, preventing tuning through normal methods. Hikari Speed solves this by offering a full bench unlock service — remove your ECU, ship it to us, and we’ll flash our proprietary software, unlocking full read/write access via the OBD port.
Once unlocked, your ECU becomes fully configurable through the Hikari Speed Software Suite, enabling advanced tuning you cant find anywhere else across all Sunburst engine variants.

Stock Turbo Configuration:
While both turbo configurations can run on stock internals, they operate near the platform’s mechanical limits. Use of E85 provides a layer of safety for power levels that would otherwise be in excess of the stock internals capabilities, but caution is still recommended.
Please refer to our Torque Limit Chart on page 3 of catalog for guidance on safe operating ranges.
For improved durability and peace of mind, we recommend upgrading to the Hikari “Street” Forged Internals seen below

Built for boost, not for numbers.
The stock Sunburst block can handle a surprising amount of power, especially with ethanol. But once you cross ~400 bhp, you're pushing your luck. The Hikari Forged Internals Package fills the gap where a proper Heavy Duty Long Block should exist in the vanilla game.
What It Is:
Available as an in-house build (Chattanooga) or as a crate/kit for global shipment.
Hikari Speed 光 TCU tune for 6-Speed Dual-Clutch Transaxle
The stock Sunburst DCT is sluggish and uninspired — especially under power. The Hikari TCU Tune transforms it with smarter logic, faster response, and full end-user control.

If you have ever looked at the Sunburst radiator values in the game files (let’s be honest, you haven’t) you will notice a massive gap between the High-Performance and Ultra High-Performance options effectiveness. With a difference between them of double the cooling effectiveness, there is a clear gap between the offerings.
So, we built what should have been there all along.
Using polynomial regression across the full vanilla radiator lineup, we got a formula and calculated the “missing middle", and as a bonus, we flipped the cooling fan to the back for greater frontal surface area. And the radiator hose follows the silicone coupler choice from the Hikari Speed “Street” Turbo system

Originally created to restore the “red lens” look that was lost in the Sunburst remaster, the Hikari Dark Cherry Taillights feature a deeper red tone and a silver bezel around the brake lens — a visual tweak that has a very OEM+ feel. BeamNG later added their own red option in a hotfix, but we kept this one in because we think it still looks better.

A simple, effective inline tuner for the SBR4.
Originally developed as Hikari’s first product, “Rūto” began life as a prototype Bench Unlock during the Sunburst remaster prep phase. As the full ECU Bench Unlock evolved for the sunburst, this early version was re-imagined as a simpler piggyback, now targeting users who want noticeable power gains without a full ECU reflash.

- ~380 bhp (2.0 S) to 410 bhp (2.5 RS) on E85
- On roughly 24-26PSI
- Up to 500bhp at 28PSI on a Sunburst RS 2.5L.
- Achieves ~50 bhp more than stock using the same or less boost.
- Minimal torque increase to help preserve stock internal longevity.

- 2 different mufflers are available to allow for fitment on both base/S or RS/ RS Aero bumpers.
- Less muffling, more offload gain, and a deeper tone.
- currently gains ~15% less power than race exhaust (may change this)

- Adjusts turbo parameters proportionally, rather than just adding raw exhaust pressure
- Preserves stock drive-ability and character — just sharper, faster, and stronger
- Boost control: up to +7 PSI over stock
- Matches safe limits for factory S1 (10.5 PSI) and S2 (20.0 PSI) turbos
- Octane slider: optimizes spool and partial throttle behavior for higher-octane fuel resulting in more low end torque
- Similar UI logic to Reference-Based boost tuning from the full ECU suite in the Sunburst
