SCS Software has officially confirmed that the UK in Euro Truck Simulator 2 will get a full re-imagining.
Previously, fans had already guessed about the upcoming update after that very video with "true British tea". Now the mystery is solved - that light humor became a prelude to the biggest project in ETS 2 history.
Scale, details and left hand movement
The team confirmed that more than twenty cartographers are working on the project together with programmers, researchers and artists around.
The project started with a clean sheet. The current version of the map is very outdated, and the studio decided not just to upgrade the roads, but to completely redevelop the whole country.
The main difficulty is scale. Now Britain in ETS 2 has a different coefficient compared to the rest of Europe. In the new version, SCS wants to unify the map so that city sizes and distances are consistent with other regions. This means more detail in less space - a complex but ambitious task.
An additional challenge is left-hand traffic, which requires a different logic of the road network and traffic testing.
A new look at familiar cities
The developers do not hurry to reveal all maps, but it is known that in the updated version will appear new cities, redesigned landscapes and recognizable places.
Among the confirmed - Stonehenge and Leeds, as well as a completely renewed Eurotunnel connecting the UK with France.
In addition, the team plans to add more routes in Scotland and improve port infrastructure.
When to wait out
No specific time frame yet. It is only known that the Benelux rework is planned for 2026, which means that a renewed Great Britain will probably not come out before 2027.
However, the developers are actively expanding the staff and assure that the work is in full swing. Therefore, it is possible that this will happen a little earlier.
