We did some basic work with Farming Simulator 22. Not only does the soil appear to be more natural and vivid, like other surfaces, thanks to Parallax Occlusion Mapping, but also to new soil operating systems and a lot of new soil textures.
New feature: Mulching
Mulching. The revelation of domestic gardening through questionable overuse of bark chips. But, backyards and home improvement are not what we're talking about here. Although, the science is basically the same: Mulching improves the soil (and therefore the yield).
For instance, when we grow a grape or olive grove, in farming simulator 22, we use a mulcher attached to our tractor to cut and apply fresh grass on the surface of the ground. You can also pair the stubble left on the field after harvesting your crops to improve yield.
And because many still believe it is important, you can also guarantee your grape and olive groves a visual appeal, as mulching makes everything on your winemaking area look nice and clean too. How wonderful!
In the forestry section there are also larger types of mulchers. They even pair bushes and stumps of trees. (Almost) There's nothing in the way of mulching when you use the right machine.
New feature: Stone picking
Leaving the beautiful mulching world, the hard reality lies sleeping in the ground: Stones! Stones can turn up on your field when cultivated or plowed. The size of the stones varies depending on the type of cultivator you use. You dig bigger rocks than your shallow ground using a subsoiler. Your soil is now in chaos. Oh, no! But, what now?
You can even make extra money by selling them to the debris crusher when you collect stones with your picker. Get your revenge (and even get paid for it) on those land invaders! You should take care of the stones one way or another before you start sowing your crops. If you like, you can also turn off stones.
It will damage your machines by leaving them in the field. Your problem will not only get worse, but more and more large stones will come up. There's another way to get rid of them if you don't want to collect them - at least the smaller ones. Here comes another mechanical ground that ties in stones. Yes, stones are the gift that continues to give...
New feature: Soil rolling
If you have chosen big rocks from the ground, you have to gather them. With smaller stones that emerge after growing or plowing this spectacular, agricultural tool, called a roller, can also be used and simply pressed back into the ground. Yes, just roll over them – they had it, and the welfare of your costly machinery was threatened.
Rollers are not only a tool for disguising the rocky effects of cultivation or plowing. When you roll over, flatten and compress the seedbed you get an extra yield bonus once you have sowed your crops. Given the type of crop and the size of the field, we're talking about a lot of money.
There is also an incentive if you are an enthusiast of the grassland. As you roll on your meadows, you get a stage of fertilization. Mind, that grass rolling puts it back in the first stages of growth - if it is freshly cut and mowed then you should roll over the grass.
Look at the new ground textures!
We revised basically all ground textures for Farming Simulator 22. You're going to notice more visual diversity. And, when playing with some friends invited to your farm (even via Crossplay), you'll definitely notice, if those slackers haven't rolled the seedbed, as the texture looks different from the one where it's not. Don't let them get away with your yield lowering
