AI Helpers in FS25: What They Can Do — and What They Can’t
AI assistants in Farming Simulator 25 have become much smarter. They can now perform more complex tasks, use routes, avoid obstacles, and work on non-standard fields with curved boundaries.
AI can easily handle operations such as plowing, cultivation, sowing, fertilizing, spraying, manure spreading, and mulching. They can work with most types of standard equipment: combines, sprayers, spreaders, and even seeders.
The new system can even recognize complex field shapes, including those created manually or with objects in the middle of the plot, such as islands, trees, or ponds.
The worker bypasses such objects and continues working. They also hardly ever get stuck, even if the field is surrounded by dense vegetation or buildings — the main thing is that there is at least a little space between the equipment and the obstacle.
Where AI workers cannot be used in FS25

AI workers have limitations. Artificial intelligence is still not capable of performing work in vineyards and olive groves. If you try to hire an assistant to harvest, the game will display a window with a route, but will not start the process itself.
However, you can use GPS or Steering Assist systems. With these, you can manually set the trajectory along the rows, and the equipment will follow the route precisely, almost like an automated worker. You will need to control the equipment yourself. On the other hand, there is no need to constantly adjust the direction.
The AI worker also cannot control balers, pick up bales, wrap them, or use trailers for picking up. The same applies to forwarders, bale transporters, pickers, auto loaders, and pallet loaders. Even if the equipment allows you to activate AI, the most it can do is drive to the desired location.
Livestock farming, logging, and manual loading also remain your responsibility.
AI capabilities in non-standard conditions

Artificial intelligence-based workers have the ability to work in fields of non-standard shapes. Previously, any deviation from a rectangle could lead to malfunctions in the assistant's work, causing it to get stuck, confused, or simply stop. Now the situation has changed significantly. AI is capable of analyzing the boundaries of even the most intricate areas. You can create a field with many curves, cutouts, and areas with decorative elements, and AI will still “understand” where the boundaries of the work are.
Moreover, the system takes into account “internal islands,” such as ponds, buildings, or flower beds that remain in the center of the field. The assistant automatically bypasses such obstacles. This is especially useful when creating custom fields or using decorations. And even if you have a house or a rock in the middle of your plot, the AI will not stop working.
It is only important that the equipment has minimal space for turning and movement.
It is also worth noting that when an error is detected, the AI does not spoil the harvest or break the scenario. In the worst case, it will simply stop, and you can easily resume work manually.
Strategies for working with AI: how to increase efficiency and reduce player involvement
Assistants can't do everything, but you can automate your farm with the right approach.
The secret is in combining functions: for example, one assistant cultivates the field, while another applies fertilizer to another area at the same time, and you personally take care of harvesting or logistics.
AI can be sent to any point on the map, load and unload products, deliver bales, and transport grain or fertilizer. This is especially useful on large farms where time is the main resource.
It is also useful to use Steering Assist (GPS), which allows you to manually set precise routes. For example, even if AI cannot perform the task of picking up bales, you can set the trajectory and simply turn on cruise control, and the machine will move precisely along the rows. This solution works for both grapes and straw harvesting.
In production chains and logistics, you can also delegate some of the work and routine tasks to AI workers.
What is the result? If you use this feature correctly, you can build an almost fully automated farm, where your main contribution will be in management, strategy, and crop sales. Workers will take care of the fields, logistics, and maintenance, while you focus on development.
