China's Chengdu Aerospace Corporation is developing the Chengdu J- 20, a stealth, twinjet, fifth- generation fighter aircraft prototype, for the PLAAF.The J- 20 had its maiden flight on January 11, 2011 and is slated to be operational by 2018.
China's J- 20 platform has the potential to be a formidable, long- range strike system in the Asia- Pacific area, with low- rate start manufacturing reportedly beginning in January 2016.
