GeckoLib is a popular library that allows you to create various motion animations when creating mods for Minecraft. This addon is designed to simplify the process of creating animations in Minecraft mods for modders. You may have noticed in the descriptions of many mods that you downloaded that this or that mod requires GeckoLib. Therefore, if you use mods frequently, we recommend installing this library, as a large number of mods rely on it and require it!
GeckoLib allows Minecraft mod creators to easily animate mobs and individual body parts of game characters, which is why most mod developers prefer to integrate this animation engine into their projects. As a result, their mods become much higher quality and more realistic. However, the problem is that without installing GeckoLib, such a mod will not work. That’s why the requirements for these mods will always state that you need to install this library for the modification to function properly and without any issues.
How to Install GeckoLib?
In fact, installing this addon is almost no different from installing regular mods. It works on Forge, Quilt, Fabric, and NeoForge. So, all you need to do is download one of these mod engines and install it. Then, download the corresponding version of GeckoLib and copy it to the .minecraft\mods folder. That’s it, the library is installed! Now all mods that are based on it will work without any errors.
Important: You need to copy a file with the .jar extension into the mods folder. You can download a .zip archive via the links. It contains .jar files for different mod loaders (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, Quilt). You will need to unpack the archive and copy the required file to the Minecraft directory where mods are installed (the address of this folder can be seen slightly above).
