The developers of ETS2 have presented the water side of Benelux 1
SCS Software introduces the community to updates for ETS2. This time, the developers showed a new part of the rework of Benelux - a region where water is not just part of the landscape, but the very basis of life.
Rivers, canals and the sea here form not only the appearance of the area, but also the character of entire peoples. And now this unique geography gets a virtual embodiment in Euro Truck Simulator 2.
When the water becomes expensive
Benin is a region where water is present everywhere. River, canal or sea - everything here is intertwined into a single network, creating the impression of a living organism. Especially in the Netherlands, where people have for centuries fought and cooperated with water, learning to turn its power into good.
SCS Software with jewelry precision transfers this feature. On the updated maps you can see how natural rivers are adjacent to artificial canals, and along them - roads, along which life races. Through the water channels are dams, which you can deliver goods to the point of naming.
Engineering miracle - eyes of the trucker
One of the symbols of the region will be the famous Afslitdijk - a grand dam separating Lake IJsselmeer from the North Sea.
In the renewed Benelux, each river has its own meaning. Waal, one of the main arteries of the Rhine, crosses the heart of the region, and in the south Maas (Meuse) gently surrounds Belgian cities, including Liège, where on the banks of the river work hydroelectric power plants.
SCS Software doesn’t just add water - it adds life and an unusual touch to the game’s style of content. Players will be able to see rotating windmills that were once used for the drainage of swamps, and modern turbines that convert energy from water into electricity.
When nature becomes part of the route
What makes the rework of Benelux special is its sense of scale and harmony.
The designers tried to convey the natural symphony of the region, so that all bridges, viaducts, sluices, quiet bays and noisy ports look realistic and fill their role in logistics.
The North Sea, bordering the coasts of Belgium and the Netherlands, looks powerful and impressive in the game.
The SCS Software team processes not only the visual aspect, but also the structure of roads, traffic, economy and even the interaction with ports.
As updates are released, more details will be added to reflect the unique character of the Benelux.
