Fertilizer is the heart of crop production

Let’s start with fertilizers. Always try to be responsible when fertilizing the soil, if you want to get the maximum benefit from the field. Each field can be fertilized twice. For every time you fertilize, you get +25% to the crop.

It is best to fertilize the fields immediately after sowing the crop (you can even do so in time, if you use seeders equipped with sprayers or spreaders) and during the growth of the crop.

What fertilizers should I use?

There are several species and all of them are sold in the agricultural in-game shop in the category Objects/ Fertilizer.

There are different types of fertilizers - oil radish, solid and liquid fertilizers. You can decide which one to use. You can experiment with different types of fertilizers to see which works best, but there is no single answer.

The main thing to remember is that if you harvest a field without fertilizer, you get a basic number. But as soon as you go twice with the commode, the amount of grain in the hopper will noticeably double.

Ploughing is always needed?

Many beginners first grab the plough. It seems that this is the basis of farming, but in fact ploughing does not always have to. The field will tell you when it’s time to plow.

For crops like corn, potatoes, sugar beet or cane this is especially important. For them ploughing is mandatory, but for the rest of the plants you can do without this method of soil treatment.

By the way, the plough can be replaced with a chizel-cultivator. It is ploughed and cultivated in one pass, which saves time. But a conventional plough is still useful, because only it can create new fields.

On the increase, ploughing gives about +15%. A small bonus, especially if you spend an hour on a huge plot.

Weed control

No farmer will be happy if the field is planted with grass. Weeds actually reduce the crop, and you have to get rid of them. It is done in two ways: hoe (mechanical treatment) or sprayer with herbicide.

In order to remove weeds at the first stage of growth will be enough ordinary digger or special broom.

If you miss the moment and the weeds grow too big, only the chemistry will help to remove them. In this case, you will need a sprayer and special herbicides. They can remove weeds even at a late stage. Moreover, if you treat the field immediately after planting, weeds will not usually appear there.

With a clean field, the crop increase reaches +20%. If the weeds are removed too late, the bonus will be only about 10%.

Lime is a rare guest, but useful

Setting a field can add +15% to the crop. This is usually done after every third crop or if you ploughed a new field.

You can buy lime and lime tools in the shop. Since there is no need for frequent liming of the field, accordingly, you will not have to spend a lot of money on materials, so it is quite economical way to increase crop yield.

Also note that if the field is sown grass, you do not need to add chalk at all.

Cultivation is an unnecessary movement or a necessity?

Cultivation is not necessary for all crops. For example, for oats, pulses, barley, rapeseed or wheat there is no need to carry out this procedure. It should be done for cotton, corn, sunflower, beet.

It is necessary to cultivate after the harvest to destroy the remaining shoots of the crop. Use a plough or cultivator that you buy in the store. The cultivator is much better at doing this because it has a larger grasping width. There are also subsoilers that work simultaneously as a cultivator and plough, ie do 2 jobs at the same time.

Note that cultivation itself does not give a crop bonus. This is a necessary action only for some crops to remove the litter before planting another crop on the field.
