The crossbow in Minecraft is capable of inflicting enormous damage. It all depends on how to properly enchant it and what projectiles to use. A crossbow combined with fireworks allows you to attack enemies from a distance and cause massive damage.

However, to turn a crossbow into a deadly weapon, you will need a little patience, knowledge and resources. Next, we'll look in detail at what materials are needed, how to get them, what charms to use and how to properly collect fireworks with maximum damage. Such a crossbow will come in handy both in PvP battles and for fighting mobs, including the most powerful ones, such as Visor or Dragon Edge.

What enchantments to use

When you have obtained a crossbow, let's try to make it more powerful. To do this, it needs to be properly enchanted. Then he will have the ability to release fireworks that cause huge damage. This is especially useful in PvP battles.

The following enchantments are suitable for this purpose:

Multishot - allows you to release three fireworks at once instead of one. This instantly triples the damage and makes the crossbow particularly dangerous.

• Quick Charge III - significantly reduces the time between shots, allowing you to fight more aggressively.
• Durability - increases the life of the crossbow, reducing the chance of it breaking during use.
• Repair - restores durability through experience, which is especially useful when using the crossbow for long periods of time.

Piercing Arrow (I-IV) pierces up to +1 entity level, dealing damage to each. It has no effect on armor stands or Edge crystals. If the arrow falls to the ground, it can be picked up.

The main ways of obtaining enchantments for crossbow

Enchantment Table

Using the enchantment table with its surrounding bookshelves, you can cast basic enchantments on a crossbow. But experience levels and lapis lazuli will be required. However, rare enchantments like mending cannot be obtained using this method.

Anvil and enchanted books

In the anvil you can combine a crossbow with an enchanted book. Enchanted books can be found in chests, obtained by fishing or bought from librarians.

Trading with residents

Enchanted books can be bought from librarian-sellers at the level of apprentice and above. The better your relationship with the villagers, the higher the chance of getting a more valuable item.

Looting from mobs

You can immediately get a crossbow with enchantments from brigands or pighlins.  The chance is about 8-10% (If you use “Mining” enchantments, the drop rate will be slightly higher).

Collecting resources for fireworks

To create fireworks you need resources. First of all, you will need paper.



It can be obtained from sugar cane. It can be grown on any body of water, and getting the right amount will not be difficult.

The second main component is gunpowder, falling out of the creepers.

The third important element is dyes. It is best to use those that are easy to obtain in large quantities: red, yellow, pink and magenta.



These colors are derived from high colors that are easily duplicated with bone meal. Bone meal itself is easiest to obtain from bone blocks found in the Sand Valley of Souls biome in the Lower World.

Another useful component is the Fire Charge. It increases the blast radius. It can be crafted from gunpowder, charcoal and ifrit powder.



The recipe is cheap if you already have an established blaze farming system.

Crafting the most powerful attack fireworks

To make deadly fireworks, create firework stars. They are responsible for the damage.



Each star is crafted from one gunpowder and one dye, to which you can add a fireball. A maximum of seven stars can be built into a single firework, and it's worth doing so to maximize damage.

Next, place seven stars, one paper and one gunpowder in the crafting grid - the result is a firework. 

Important: do not add more than one gunpowder in the final recipe - otherwise the range will increase, but the number of stars (and, consequently, the damage) will decrease.

Such fireworks in conjunction with a multi-shooter will damage three targets at once or triple the damage on one target.

How to use a crossbow with fireworks in combat

To load the crossbow with fireworks, simply move it to your left hand and press left mouse button.



The shot will then fire in the standard way, but the released fireworks will explode when they hit the target.

In close combat, they do maximum damage. Especially if you shoot at a cluster of mobs or directly at an enemy. One such shot can leave a player with full health with literally one heart. And if you use several crossbows at once, each of which is pre-loaded, you can release them in a volley, switching between slots.  The damage will be inflicted in a continuous stream.
