South Dakota: Settlements in ATS — 8 New Cities to Explore! 1
When the game develops, when the map expands - it is not just adding points on the virtual map. It is an invitation to travel, to a thoughtful exploration, to feel the space in which you want to leave your mark. The new American Truck Simulator expansion is dedicated to South Dakota, and with it players will get eight new settlements, each filled with character, stories and visual details that make «road game» a real world.
Every new city is taken care of, and the developers did not just make roads for transport, but worked on atmosphere, details, architecture and cultural accents.
Some cities are already familiar to fans. For example, Valentine, who previously appeared in the Nebraska DLC, will now «continue his life» in South Dakota. The other cities, by contrast, are debuting in the DLC South Dakota: Settlements.
How big is the upgrade
Eight new cities is a big leap. Here you have a beautiful unique color of each city and incredibly fascinating architecture, well and of course many points where you can get tasks and interesting routes.
Let’s see what is unique about each city.
Belle Fourche - the center of America
The first city will be Belle Fourche, located in the west of the state, near Montana and Wyoming.
Despite the modest population - about five thousand people, it is considered an important commercial center of the region. Here is the geographic center of the USA, moved after the accession of Hawaii.Faith - faith in the heart of the prairie
The small town of Faith is located in northwestern South Dakota, adjacent to an Indian reservation.
This is a quiet rural settlement where players will be able to see the local church, museum of fossils and unusual metallic statue of dinosaur, which is an original symbol of the city.
Huron is the city of big pheasant
Next for travelers is Huron, located in the eastern part of the state.
The city is located in a picturesque region of plains and glacial lakes, along the James River. Its main attraction is the world’s largest pheasant statue, which will surely attract the attention of all travelers.
Interior - gate in Badlands
The tiny town of Interior, where fewer than seventy people live, serves as a gateway to the Badlands National Park.
Founded in the 1880s, it is considered the oldest town in the region and perfectly conveys the atmosphere of the Wild West.
Murdo - the spirit of the Wild West
Close to I-90 is the city of Murdo, famous for its cowboy spirit.
There are events in the style of the Wild West, and the local museum presents more than two hundred classic cars.
In the game there will even be a recognizable detail - a green vintage car, as a reference to the history of the city.
Timber Lake - road overlooking Missouri
Timber Lake is located on a scenic Native American road that offers views of the Missouri River and rugged prairie landscapes.
The city is also on the shore of the same lake, where you can make a stop on the way and relax in nature.
White River - a quiet adventure corner
South of Morro is the town of White River with a population of just over five hundred people.
It is named after the nearby Little White River and is known as a place for fishing, hunting and cowboy culture. The true spirit of provincial America is here.
Valentine - border enlargement
Completes the list of Valentine, already familiar to players in the Nebraska DLC. Now the city will have an expansion towards South Dakota with new attractions and locations.
What it means for players
- New routes, new challenges. The choice of directions increases, long transit routes appear, there are sections where logistics, terrain and nature of the road will make you plan the route more carefully.
- Atmospheric immersion. When in the city there is a museum, small details, real cultural references - travel becomes not just a «passage», but a journey where you want to get out of the booth and see.
- Fluidity and connectivity of the world. By expanding Valentine towards South Dakota, it creates a bridge between regions. This is not a jump between DLC, it’s one world map where the state of the track, nature and infrastructure develop in harmony.
- Reason to come back. Even those players who have already explored almost everything will find in this update an incentive to come back, go again and stop where they did not stop before.
Add-on South Dakota: Settlements can be added to your Steam wishlist. But the exact release date is not yet available - follow the news!
