GTA 6: Wanted? Cops Remember Everything!
In Grand Theft Auto VI, it looks like police behavior will once again be taken to a new level. With each issue the series has shown evolution in this direction - and GTA 6, judging by leaks and trailers, will be no exception. The classic rogue system will likely retain the familiar five stars, but filling those stars is something else entirely. The attention to detail is amazing: one of the episodes shows a new timer system during heists. First there's a countdown until the police are called, and then there's a countdown until they arrive. This can make every crime not only tense, but tactically challenging.
Rockstar seems to be emphasizing realism: different neighborhoods and cities will have their own police departments with unique cars, livery and colors. Weiss City, Port Gellhorn, Weiss Beach, Leonard County - each has its own style and level of training. You can even see the insignia: department badges, car brands - from the classic Vapid Stanier to the powerful Bravado Hellfire of the Highway Patrol. Other services also appear: firefighters, ambulance, and possibly the army. The trailer highlights scenes of police body cams and street chases, which adds to the cinematography and the feeling that you're in a true crime thriller.
More realism, less forgiveness

The police in GTA 6 seem to get not only enhanced tactics, but also new mechanics of interaction with the player. Now law enforcers will not just “get into” a firefight. They can evacuate the wounded, surround, block, recognize a car or a character's face if they were seen by witnesses. Moreover, if the main characters, for example, changed their clothes or fled before the arrival of the cops - the chances of getting away from the chase increase dramatically. Otherwise, NPCs may have a “full description” of the suspects, and then the police will be fully involved.
Cars also play a role: if no one has seen what the criminals fled with, the police won't know what to look for. And vice versa: once caught on camera, a player runs the risk of being identified even after changing the color of the car. Players share ideas, suggesting the introduction of “realistic cones of vision” for police officers and reduce the number of helicopters, which, according to many, too intrusive in previous parts. In short, fans dream of a deep, intelligent system in which cops act in the scenario of real patrols, rather than as dummies spun in mid-air.
Also, the ability to surrender to the police if the manhunt is at its peak could be a dramatic new element. Why risk everything when you can throw your hands up and get out with minimal casualties.
Note that these are only leaks and some insights at this point. But there is still quite a long way to go before the game is released. So, as time goes on, you can expect a little different information about the manhunt system in GTA 6. But judging by all the details, leaks and observations, Grant Theft Auto VI is preparing a serious change in one of the most iconic mechanics of the whole series - the manhunt. The police are no longer just an obstacle. It's a whole system with regional specificity, tactical flexibility and maybe even character. We'll be waiting for new news and insights on the game.
