The basics
Bribe them with Sliced Cucumber and they will follow you. Each hamster has its own personality, which affects how it sits and sleeps.

Shoulder surfing
Use Cheese to lure up to three hamsters onto your shoulders and head. They are animated, physics-driven passengers that bounce when you jump and cling on when you sprint. While riding on you, they act as portable radar, squeaking when Creepers or Diamonds are nearby.

The Hamster Yeet
Press G and launch your shoulder hamster as a furry projectile. It comes with particles, impact sounds, and a Doppler effect. By default, it does enough damage to kill a Creeper.

The Tree Heist
Throw a hamster at an Oak Tree and it vanishes into the leaves, shaking the canopy and dropping Acorns. Use those Acorns to craft Acorn Armor and the Acorn Hat accessory.

Wander Mode and beds
Craft a Hamster Bed, link it to your hamster, and place it down. The hamster will stop following you and wander near its bed. If it gets stuck, sleep and it will return home during the night.

Prospecting
If a hamster smells Diamonds while sitting on your shoulder, place it down and it will lead you to the ore. Sometimes it mistakes Gold for Diamond and reacts with a dramatic sulk when it notices the error.

Kung Fu
Hamsters will fight enemies with energetic roundhouse kicks, complete with foot particles.

Armor
Craft Acorn Armor. It works like Wolf Armor and blocks all damage until it breaks. You can upgrade it with Smithing Templates found in chests:
- Iron: Aerodynamic, for faster throws
- Gold: Lightweight, for a permanent movement speed boost
- Diamond: Removes kleptomania. A diamond-clad hamster becomes too impressed with itself to steal
- Netherite: Dense, with knockback resistance and heavy throw impact damage

Stealing
Unless it wears Diamond armor, a hamster will steal valuable items from the ground and run off with them. Catch it to get your loot back. By default, this applies to diamonds, but it is configurable.

Variants
73+ variants spawn based on biome. White hamsters appear in snowy biomes, Black hamsters in caves, Lavender hamsters in magical biomes, and more. It works out of the box with Terralith, Biomes O’ Plenty, and Oh The Biomes You’ll Go.

Inventory
Feed them Hamster Food Mix to earn their trust and unlock cheek pouch access. Sneak and right-click to open 6 inventory slots. If they are hurt, they will automatically eat Hamster Food Mix from their cheeks.

Psych warfare
Ravagers and Spiders are terrified of hamsters. Just seeing a tiny ball of fluff sends them running away.

Guide book
You receive a guide book the first time you join a world. It contains tips and is worth reading. You can craft another with a book and sliced cucumber.

Crops and cuisine
- Cucumbers grow in warm or dry biomes (Plains, Savannas, Jungles). Used to craft Sliced Cucumber for taming.
- Green Beans grow in wet or temperate biomes (Swamps, Lush Caves, Flower Forests). Used to make Steamed Green Beans for buffs.
- Sunflowers: Right-click the flower head to harvest Sunflower Seeds for food mix.

Zoomies
Feed a hamster Steamed Green Beans and it will enter zoomies, gaining Speed, Strength, and Regeneration, and running circles around you with particle effects.

Hamster bedding
Made of leaves and twigs, it is used to craft Hamster Beds or as decorative floor mulch. Right-clicking it in the air spawns leaf particles with client-side wind simulation.

Accessories
Hamsters have a dedicated Bling slot. Right-click them or use their inventory to equip accessories:
- Pink Petals for style
- Acorn Hat for better Tree Heist rewards

Advancements
The custom advancement tab, The Hamster Life, guides you through hamster care, from your first seed to advanced mechanics.

Getting started
- Look for Wild Cucumber Bushes or Wild Green Bean Bushes
- Collect and plant seeds
- Turn Cucumbers into Sliced Cucumber, Green Beans into Steamed Green Beans, and craft Hamster Food Mix and Cheese
- Find a wild hamster, sneak up with Sliced Cucumber, and tame it
- Right-click to sit or stand it
- Sneak and right-click to open cheek inventory after feeding Hamster Food Mix
- Use Cheese to mount it on your shoulder
- Press G or your chosen keybind to dismount

Config and compatibility
The mod uses Fzzy Config. Use Mod Menu or edit main.toml in the config/adorablehamsterpets folder. Server-side settings are synced from the server.

Nothing is hard-coded: you can redefine their diet, change what they steal, tweak yeet velocity, and adjust cheese nutrition.

Immersion
Sound and particle effects adapt to custom items. For example, using an emerald instead of Cheese will cause the hamster to clink and sparkle instead of making a squishy sound.
