Homeostatic – Temperature and Thirst

Description

Homeostatic is a temperature and thirst system designed to behave in a realistic way. It adds challenge without turning gameplay into constant grinding. The mod is stable, optimized, and works well in both vanilla and heavily modded setups.

Core systems:
– Temperature is based on real environmental factors using a wet-bulb globe temperature model (WGBT)
– Biome temperatures are adjusted to feel more natural and consistent
– Temperature changes are smoothed between nearby biomes
– Seasonal changes are supported when used with Serene Seasons
– Thirst depends on environment temperature, body temperature, and activity
– Overheating increases water consumption and can lead to negative effects or death
– Body temperature is affected by armor, heat sources, and environmental conditions
– Wet conditions increase cooling speed and can become dangerous when combined with cold exposure
– Heat sources are measured by thermal radiation, affecting nearby temperature instead of using abstract values

Survival effects:
– Heat and cold both influence body temperature over time
– High heat increases dehydration rate
– Low temperature causes progressive negative effects and can lead to death
– Being wet accelerates cooling unless the player is overheated

Armor system:
Armor can be upgraded with modifications using crafting recipes:
– Any armor piece + 3 crimson stems gives radiation protection
– Any armor piece + 3 wool (any color) gives insulation
– Any armor piece + 3 candles (any color) gives waterproofing

Hydration system:
– Water is a core survival resource
– Leather flask can be filtered or purified using furnace or smoker
