Description
Ecliptic Seasons adds a standalone seasonal system to Minecraft based on the ancient Chinese Solar Terms calendar. The year is divided into four seasons, each containing six solar terms with unique environmental behavior.
Features
- Snow coverage system: Blocks gradually gain a thin snow layer when temperatures drop, even on dirt, grass, leaves, and rooftops. This works independently of chunk loading and does not rely on player proximity, reducing performance impact.
- Seasonal audio and visuals: Day length changes with seasons. Winter brings long nights, summer brings long days.
- Fully data-driven system: All features are configurable. Support for data packs and resource packs allows full control over season timing, features, and behavior.
FAQ
- Supported versions: Actively developed for 1.20.1+. Older 1.20 versions receive crash fixes only.
- Backports: No backport support planned for older versions due to engine differences.
- Platform support: Fabric is supported.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21: Sodium, Iris Shaders, Distant Horizons, Voxy (plugin required)
- Minecraft 1.20: Embeddium, Oculus, Distant Horizons, OptiFine
Additional compatibility patches are handled through Ecliptic Seasons: MultiMod Patch, which adds modular configuration and extended support.
Installation Instructions
- Basic guidance is available in-game through tips and configuration files
- More detailed information is available on the project GitHub page
