Assetto Corsa Evo Controls Description!
Assetto Corsa Evo features different control schemes, supporting keyboard, steering wheel and gamepad. Depending on the selected device, some commands may have different meanings, but the principle of operation remains the same.
Transmission and lighting controls
Gears are shifted either using the paddles on the steering wheel (Paddle Gear Up/Down) or using the manual gearbox (Shifter Gear 1-9, R). This allows for realistic H-shift control if you have the appropriate controller.
Vehicle lighting is controlled using a few keys:
Light Cycle 1/2 - changes the light level by increasing or decreasing the brightness of the headlights.
Light Stages 1-10 - selects a specific light level, similar to the previous command, but with direct selection.
Flashing Lights - turns high beam on and off.
Rain Lights - activates the rear fog light, useful in rainy weather.
Retractable Headlights Toggle - responsible for the operation of retractable headlights (relevant only for cars equipped with such headlights).
Left/Right Direction Indicator - turns on the left or right turn signal.
Hazard Lights - activates the hazard warning lights.
Starting the engine and assistance systems
The following keys are provided for engine control:
Toggle Ignition - turns the ignition on and off.
Toggle Starter - starts the engine, but only if the ignition is on.
Driver assistance systems such as Traction Control (TC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Engine Map are controlled by separate commands:
- Traction Control Setting 1-10 - sets a specific level of TC.
ABS Setting 1-10 - sets a specific ABS level.
Traction Control Cut Setting Increase/Decrease - adjusts the traction “cut” setting.
Traction Control Cut Setting 1-10 - sets the value of this setting manually.
ABS Setting Increase/Decrease - changes the ABS level.
Engine Map Increase/Decrease - changes the engine map, altering performance and fuel consumption.
Traction Control Setting Increase/Decrease - increases or decreases the level of traction control.
Engine Map Setting 1-10 - selects a specific engine map.
At the moment (version 0.1.4) there is a bug in the game, because of which setting the settings to a certain value can lead to setting them to a value one unit lower.
Brake Bias settings allow you to change the distribution of braking force between the front and rear axles:
Brake Bias Front - shifts the braking force to the front.
Brake Bias Rear - shifts the braking force to the rear.
These settings are particularly important in racing, where you have to adapt the car's behavior to the track conditions.
Additional car functions
Assetto Corsa Evo supports a wide range of additional features that allow you to customize the car during the race.
Customization of electronics and displays
Some cars support ESC (Electronic Stability Control) setting, which allows the player to change its level during the race:
ESC Setting Increase/Decrease - increases or decreases the ESC level.
ESC Setting 1-10 - sets a certain value.
It is also possible to adjust the car's performance mode:
Performance Mode 1-10 - selects a specific mode.
Performance Mode Next/Previous - switches performance modes.
The dashboard display can be customized:
Display Device Cycle 1/2 - changes the displayed device.
Display Page Cycle 1/2 - changes the display pages.
Display Device 1-10 - sets a specific display mode.
Display Page 1-10 - selects a specific page.
Additional features include setting interior lights and specialty lights:
Cockpit Light Cycle 1/2 - changes the cockpit lights.
Special Light Cycle 1/2 - toggles the vehicle's special lighting.
In some cars, you can change the speed of the windshield wipers:
Wiper Cycle 1/2 - changes the speed of the windshield wipers.
Wiper Stages 1-10 - sets a specific speed.
Mirrors can be adjusted using several commands:
Mirrors Cycle 1/2 - changes the mirror position.
Mirrors Yaw 1/2 - turns the mirror left or right.
Mirrors Pitch 1/2 - adjusts the tilt.
Mirrors FOV 1/2 - changes the angle of view in the mirrors.
Camera Controls
The cameras in Assetto Corsa Evo can be switched and adjusted manually. This is especially useful when using third-person views or observer mode in races.
The following camera views are available:
Driveable - switches views from the cockpit.
Onboard - fixed view from the cockpit.
Onboard Freelook - allows you to freely view the interior.
Helicopter - switches to Helicopter camera (if available).
Track - switches to static track cameras.
Sequence - enables sequential switching of cameras.
You can adjust the camera manually by changing its position:
Up/Down/Left/Right - moves the camera in the corresponding direction.
Roll Left/Right - changes the angle of the camera.
Forward/Backward - brings the camera closer or farther away.
Yaw Left/Right - changes the horizontal position.
Pitch Up/Down - adjusts the tilt.
You can also use the Reset View command to return the camera to its original position.
With a wide range of adjustments to the drivetrain, electronics, brake balance, and camera, you can maximize your control precision.
Knowing all the hotkeys and commands gives you a competitive edge in racing and allows you to adapt more quickly to changing track conditions. If you want to maximize your car's full potential, it's important to learn how to control the assistance systems, engine modes, light settings and camera angles.
Now you know how to set up the controls and which keys to use for maximum control of the car.
