GTA VI May Borrow the Wanted System from RDR2
It seems that the wanted system in GTA VI may be much more interesting than we are used to. This was revealed by renowned dataminer Tez2, who noted that the developers were inspired by the mechanics from Red Dead Redemption 2.
In RDR2 everything worked like this: if the NPC witnessed a crime, he could run and report you to the police. The player, in turn, could prevent it - for example, by scaring «snitch» or eliminating him completely. Plus each territory had its own laws: it was enough to move to another state or pay a fine to close the case. And now there are hints that a similar system will appear in GTA VI.
These rumors arose after discussions of the Rage Engine code, which was released in 2022. Fans noticed that even in GTA V there are pieces of code related to petty crimes, but they were somehow never involved.
Such lines have been encountered since the time of GTA III. Therefore, many assumed that Rockstar is preparing something new in this direction.
However, Tez2 has cooled the fans by stating that the system in GTA VI will be based on RDR2, which means old code will not be used directly:
«R* has changed the format of the crime system in RDR2, on which VI will be based, so the listed crimes may not be translated in their original form.»
The developers have not officially confirmed anything yet. But it is already known that in GTA VI will return a six-digit system of search. How it will work is a mystery, but it’s possible that the ideas from RDR2 will make it more dynamic and believable.
