GTA 6 and Satire on the Internet: The Continuing Story of Parody Domains
Grand Theft Auto 6 is less than a year away from release, scheduled for May 26, 2026. And while Rockstar has traditionally been silent, the community is not asleep. Recently, users noticed that Take-Two Interactive registered a whole set of interesting domains, and now fans are wondering what this could mean.
Found was discovered by a well-known insider Tez2, who posted the list of addresses on GTAForums. Soon after that some information was hidden, which only heated interest.
The list of domains looks as usual for Rockstar satire on Internet culture and modern services:
-
what-up.app - a parody on WhatsApp, already in 2022 appeared in leaks;
-
rydeme.app - an in-game analog of Uber or Lyft, which may allow you to call a taxi or move quickly on the map;
-
buckme.app - fans argue that it is a payment service like Venmo/Cash App or a parody of Patreon and OnlyFans;
-
brianandbradley.com - a reference to the law firm Morgan & Morgan from Florida, or an imaginary brand;
-
leonidagov.org - official site of the fictitious government of the state of Leonida;
-
hookers-galore.com - the name is clearly not about real services, but another cheesy humor Rockstar;
-
wipeoutcornskin.com is a mysterious reference to dermatology or medicine;
-
myboyhasacreepycorndog.com is pure nonsense, typical of the studio’s sense of humor.
As reported by the user Tez2 from gtaforums forum, domains were registered on May 27 on server names Take-Two. After the domains moved to Mark Monitor.
Why do you need these domains?
There are a lot of theories. Some players believe that the studio may use registered parody domains for marketing company GTA 6 in the future. This is logical, because if you remember the past parts of the game, they used similar methods and started with GTA IV and GTA V. It was from these games that began the first era series in which there was a full-fledged in-game internet. Computers in the internet cafe were able to access dozens of parody sites:
GTA 4:
- Craplist.net(is a parody of the Crqaigslist);
- Whiz Wireless (the satirical name of mobile operators such as Verizon and T-Mobile);
- Love-meet.net (parody on dating site) and many others.
GTA 5:
- Lifeinvader.com - Parody on Facebook.
- Bleeter.biz - Twitter analog in GTA 5.
- Epsilonprogram.com is a satire on sects (in the style of Scientology).
- And others.
In the game they have their purpose, and if you now go to these URLs, you will be directed to the official site of Rockstar.
Therefore, one can assume that it may well be that the new registered domains will be used for GTA 6 as it was with previous parts, or maybe the creators will come up with a new more original application. In any case, so far you can build only conjectures, because officially developers of Grand Theft Auto VI do not actively share the details of six parts of the game, preferring to keep the maximum intrigue.
