Rockstar in their official blog shared not quite happy for many fans of Grand Theft Auto information. They reported that the release of GTA 6 is postponed to May 26, 2026.

The reason for the delay - the developers want to release a quality product, so the development requires more time. They thanked the players for their patience and support and said that they are trying not just to meet, but to exceed expectations.

“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.

With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.” - Rockstar said in an official statement.

Jason Schreier reported that Rockstar employees from the very beginning doubted the release of GTA 6 in the fall of 2025 - the amount of work is large, time is short, and the management wants to avoid crunches. The postponement to spring 2026 looked inevitable long before the official announcement. After the news, Take-Two's stock fell hard.

Insiders also report that GTA VI's multiplayer mode will probably be released as a separate, more accessible version - similar to Red Dead Online. This will allow to expand the audience and make the online part of the project an independent product.

For now, we can only wait. But Rockstar promised that in the coming months will begin to actively share new details about the game. Hope, as they say, dies last - especially when it comes to GTA.

So, GTA 6 will be released in March 2026 according to the developers themselves. This seems to be the release date for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S 25 version of the game. When Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PC is not yet known.
