While Rockstar Games remains officially silent about the details of the GTA 6 map, the fan community is buzzing with activity. One of the most active participants is a user named Saukko, who is one of the cartographers from Dupz0r's Discord community. On his YouTube channel, he gave a detailed description of the scale of the future world of GTA 6. According to him, rumors about the map being “too small” or “too empty” are greatly exaggerated.
The most plausible version of the GTA 6 map at the moment is considered to be the map from Dupz0r. Its height is 19 kilometers (or just under 12 miles). This is almost 2.5 times larger than the territory of GTA 5. In other words, two full-fledged maps of Los Santos can easily fit on the new map. Simply put, the map in Grand Theft Auto VI will be 2-2.5 times larger than in the fifth installment of the game!
At the same time, the scale is accurate, since Rockstar, starting with GTA 3, uses a universal metric coordinate system in its games. This means that one game meter in GTA 5 is the same meter in GTA 6. Therefore, the comparison is quite accurate.
Sauco also noted that in GTA 6, the developers decided to abandon the excessively wide “highways” that we are used to seeing in previous installments. Now the roads will be narrower, closer to real city streets, and with that, the flow of cars will be denser. The driving mechanics themselves will also change. Cars will behave more realistically, possibly even heavier, with increased damage in collisions. If you used to race through Los Santos at the speed of the wind, now in Vice City you will have to drive more carefully so as not to destroy your car to smithereens. In GTA 6, you will need to be careful when driving a car so as not to turn it into a pile of metal (unless you want to).
According to Saukko's calculations, the journey from one end of the city to the other can take about 20 minutes in real time. And that's in the best-case scenario. If you get caught in rush hour or want to explore the area in more detail, the travel time will increase significantly. This is because there will be many objects on the map and the buildings will be very dense.
Vice City itself is about 1.5-2 times larger than Los Santos, especially when you consider the surrounding areas such as Port Gellhorn, Ki Lento, and Hamlet. Even the small area of Ki Lento is about three times larger than Paleto Bay from GTA 5.
The channel author also explained that the game will feature very long runways at the international airport, approximately twice as long as those in GTA 5.
There is currently a lot of speculative information online about the map in Grand Theft Auto 6, and everyone is making their own assumptions.
At the moment, DupZ0r's map is considered the most accurate. However, it is a work created by the community based on insider information, leaks, and information available on the internet, and it is unknown whether the map in the upcoming game will actually be like this.
